While radiant itself is powerful (especially its slot, 2 L missile+ 4 medium can bring in a lot more missile power) I still find it's kinda a waste for automated ship skill due to AI core officer does not count towards max officer. Which means you can build with a mix of automated ships&wolf pack and bring in more officers. Paragon itself is more aggressive than most believe due to funny blue targeting core. But yeah radiant is nuts.

I played both the Beam Paragon with level 6 officer and the Brilliant with an Alpha core, 3 plasma cannons and 2 hammer barrages. Both ships had, imo, BIS smods. The Brilliant is a front liner. It will hold the line and will push ANYTHING that gets in front of it. It will always be in the front unless you specifically order it to move somewhere. It gets shit done, and it will 100% carry you. The Paragon is slow, clunky and if you can muster the patience, will obliterate whatever comes in range. unless it's fighter spam. I will take the Brilliant 100% of the time every time. The Paragon isn't bad, it's just too slow.

I use to run paragon with radiant but paragon barely got in range to do much by the time a 5 Techyon Lance scatterBurts Hull mod build Radiant phase skip and destroyed everything. That hull mod makes 5 Tech Lance pretty op when a ship can just go in and point blank things in one or 2 burts.

You really cant, the only way atm I think is through having neural link on the ships and piloting them yourself without any AI cores installed

Radiants by themselves are really good. But with neural link they get weakened alot. 50 Ordnance points and the sacrifice of a personal skillpoint is alot. Combined with the reduction of CR it hurts even more. It makes the radiant weaker than a paragon with same weapons and proper skills. I suggest to let the AI pilot it. Note also the bonus of maximized CR. 10 % speed and given damage and received damage are alot. Especially when combined! If there where a hullmod giving these 10 % bonus for 30 OP on a Radiant you would probably install it. Thats how valuable it is. All these compromises which i have to accept to use a radiant let me still use Paragons. They can be maxed to brim with different layouts. They are slow but can bring and tank lots of damage. My current omega Paragon smokes a well hardened alpha core radiant in about 10 seconds.

Radiant is overrated, suicidal behaviour, sometimes outright ignoring direct orders ( i shit you not, example: gave order to capture point - keeps following me or order to escort me - in 30 sec on the f-g opposite side of map), doesnt use its special in a tacticaly sound manner (unless its fighting on the remnant side).
