The hooded figure with a glitchy face serves as the one who is asked to change them. They initially are seen as a monster because they do not resemble anything that the girl is able to comprehend until she realizes that the monster is in fact her savior. He brought the change that was needed and revealed to the girl the lie that she had been immersed in. Sometimes those we think are monsters are in fact the ones who we need the most.

This premise is literally so cool: The shadowy figure, the darkness is always there, but in the dark lies the light of reality. The truth hurts, but the truth is empowering if we allow ourselves to fully accept it. The way that girl fell apart after seeing her reality, at first resisting the shadow's intent to help, the way she gradually calmed down and took its hand was so cool. Starset is and always will be one of my favorites.

It might be a direct reference to Plato's allegory of the cave. Here's an abridged version: We live in a cave, but we can't see the entrance. We only see the light on the cave wall, and things that move in front of the light cast shadows. We believe these shadows are the only things that exist, because they are all we've ever known. Someone from outside the cave can show us the truth, that there is more to life than shadows on the wall. They try to bring us out to the source of the light, but the light hurts our eyes because we've lived in the dark all our lives. So we resist and try to crawl back into the darkness. But eventually after some pain, our eyes can adapt to the light and we can see things as they truly are. However, now that we have been shown the light and our eyes adapted, we can no longer see in the dark. By going back into the cave, we no longer see the same as those who live in the dark, spending their lives looking at shadows on the wall.

This song is so deep lyrically and videowise. For me it shows how no matter how perfect our lives may seem, we all struggle with something. Some more, some less. Just look at today's social media: you won't see many people talking about their issues, addictions, depression, heartbreak... Instead, they'll post photos of their vacations, their perect makeup, the food they ate. We create a bubble, a virtual reality to escape into, but outside that bubble, we will always have issues and struggle with something, anything. We have fo stop pretending everything's alright and act now. Be kind to each other, maybe it makes them smile for the first time that week..

in one of his other music videos, carnivore i believe, someone explained like the plot behind some of these videos. so basically all the people with the headsets are in a different version of there world. there there because they wanted to escape what the world was turning into and what the world has become. so the guy with the static white mask isn't actually a monster in fact he's sort of the hero. he was trying to wake up who he could to save them. once he woke her up and took her away and left the orb thingy that he had in his hand to demolish what was left of earth. if you go back to carnivore, there's a comment from an account named Layne Lockridge. check that out. it'll explain the plot somewhat enough for you to understand if your interested.

This song is basically telling us to stop letting the way we live our lives be centered around what we want. Because even our wildest dreams can corrupt our minds if we let it become more important than the people we love and love us. It's like when you're in a dream and everything is perfect in your mind, you don't wanna leave bc everything is the way you want it to be, then sooner or later you realize it's all in your head and then you start to lose cotrol of your thoughts and everything changes into a nightmare and the only way you can escape is by waking up. So when we awake, we are free to make decisions without our mind losing control, and we can use our mistakes to learn and become a better person. I hope this helps for those of you that are reading this :)

+iftkics there are many ways to interpret this song, it makes sense if you open your mind to it. You can interpret it the way you want. I use to think it was just a broken relationship that ended badly and he's haunted by the memories of his innocence being stripped away and the only way he can stop himself from losing his sanity is by being with the one he loved even after all the torture he's been through with her in the process. Which that could make sense too, it's just all about perspective

Actually, these songs are designed to be centered around technology and the potential dangers that can occur due to it. The band supports a group called the Starset Society and they warn about the potential dangers of the new technology and the possible future. Starset was created to get their message across in a way where people would listen. www.starsetonline.com/ thestarsetsociety.org/ Reference the links, I don't believe I explained it well.

I interpreted the video this way. The robed figure is an angel trying to see who he can save in the end. The helmets represent worldly distractions, addictions, and things that keep people from seeing the light. That woman in the video thought she was happy, but then she sensed that there was something wrong and did not feel truly satisfied. Sensing this, the angel or the robed figure took the helmet off or helped remove the distractions that prevented her from seeing the light. When the truth was revealed, the woman was in shock, but she finally accepted the truth. Since she was the only one who accepted the truth, the angel or robed figure took her out of harm's way. That is how I saw this video.

This video tells so much to us, it's wonderful. In my opinion it can mean that in later times no one is happy anymore in the world, so they use these colorful things to replace reality. However, there is someone, the monster, who is the only one living with all that is real. He tries to awaken people and he succeeds finally, maybe his love? You can see how shocked the girl is when she sees the real world, she even throws up and cried, feeling the weight of reality again.

I wouldn't say "The Best", as that's entirely subjective. Though I do agree with you that it's saddening how underrated they are! They're my favourite, and I wish to see them gain more recognition for the beautiful story they lay out with every song within their albums!!

I wrote a POV about a person who's head was similar to the world in the video... difference is that he always thought the people he loved would be there when he woke up. But in the end, he kept putting it off, switching realties/dreams, and died. But this was long after my family and I discovered STARSET. I remember I found it that afternoon a few years ago when I was skipping through Pandora and had to dig deeper. Once my aunt came home later, she said that she wanted to share a new band her co-worker had recommended with us. She put on I believe it was either Demons or Monster, but regardless, she was a bit shocked when she found me walking out of my room singing the lyrics by heart on my way to the kitchen as she was blasting it from the TV. Good times...

You don't need your unfortunate past to change you. You can do it by yourself. Let the monster they turned you into become the strength you need to overcome the next obstacle. You can fight through any addiction, any hardship if you turn your inner monster towards the things that ruined you. Stand up for what your heart screams at you when you get high or go back to a previous lover. Yell "NEVER AGAIN!" as your battle cry. 4 years sober from hard drugs and bad relationships. Stay grounded at least, but if you can find your strength, rise above. Nothing else in the world should matter until you purge your demons and become yourself again.

You know, if Starset’s songs have any correlation to his real life I’d feel really bad. They all have some symbolism in the form of being a monster, or an absolute fuckup. Hits hard. Much love
@sophiegerlofs46113 ай бұрын
0:50 I don't know why I get this interpretation whenever I watch this part but I'm just going to explain it anyways. I think the reason why the monster doesn't appear here is because despite them using technology they are friends with each other. Now that could imply that it's trying to say that there are people out there who use technology to connect with people. Like texting or commenting or playing video games together or being in a community that's about a fantasy game or show. But hey it's just my interpretation of this scene. I love everyone else's interpretation of the song they're all really interesting and they're all believable.

I've yet to see this interpretation (though I am sure it exists), but I do think of this video as being a little bit more personal than a relationship between humans and technology. Although I do love the metaphor, and I'm probably reading into this video too much, I feel like the man in the glitchy mask or the 'monster' is the man in the main girl's simulation. I like to think of it as maybe she chose the simulation, and he didn't. Look at the way they react to each other. He acts like he knows her immediately by the way he turns his head and follows her. She doesn't recognize him outside of the simulation at first, but she accepts his hand. She follows him once she realizes who he is. I feel like the term 'monster' and the symbolism of the man being draped in darkness could be interpreted many different ways, but I feel like maybe he rejected the simulation, and this is what became of him. Maybe someone on the starships outside did this to him, but that's why he returns. He returns to find a world he once knew, but everyone's inside their own little worlds. The only person he decides to rescue is the girl. Or maybe it isn't that he decided to rescue her, but she was able to recognize him through the simulation through him being the only one not in a simulation, so he was able to pull her out of it. Just my two cents. This video means so much more to me when looking at it from such a story-driven perspective. I'm probably wrong as hell, but I like to think of it that way. :)

Three years ago, I watched this video and fell in love, because a WWE professional wrestler known as "Bray Wyatt" (Windham Rotunda) posted it on his Twitter during a really interesting time in his career as he transformed into a "monster" character. That man has passed away either sometime today or yesterday, I'm kind of just now consuming all the news about it. Devastating loss, he was a brilliant creative genius and according to pretty much the entire WWE as a whole had nothing but love and adoration for the man's true life "character." A friend to all, beloved by his peers as much as fans. He had good fucking taste in music, too. This song is forever one of my favorites, now it holds a whole new meaning that I will cherish with both fond memories and introspective melancholy. RIP

There is no safety. even the light can fail, and the guardians know this. what about all those areas where 'the light cannot reach you here, respawning is disabled'? The traveller's light can be blocked, and it's what causes all the deceased guardians you find throuout the game. where you pick up the shells of their ghosts. The darkness is the idea that, eventually, death will come to all. you can't stop it, and even the light can fail. but through the traveller's light, the guardians do what they can to protect the galaxy from this inevitability, if only to postpone it for just a little longer.
