@@dirtypure2023 I was physically watching at S padre island about 4 miles away. the pop pop pop noise was real and not an artifact. I asked around and was told the popping noise is from the exhaust jet continuously exceeding the sound barrier, so each pop is a sound wave breaking peak. I was surprised as well.

I asked you about the concrete a few weeks ago, I think you were hopeful, but had reservations as well. looks like those engines blew a gaping hole through our most pessimistic thoughts on that. it's amazing it even got off the pad with car sized concrete launched nearly to the height of the 1st stage, and yet with all that damage it still made max Q, and even more impressive it didn't break when it corkscrewed the last part of the flite. I for one think you had the best footage/audio, at least for lift off. looking forward to the next video 👍

Thank you Zak. As usual, despite all the other pundits with cameras at the scene, you got the most revealing shot showing the concrete debris lofted skyward by the Boring Company's newest excavator. And the audio is fabulous! As soon as it started I had to stop, turn the Video and my computer audio up to eleven and replay the show from the start. Absolutely fabulous!!!! Almost like being there. Maybe. As Elon prefers to avoid flame trenches, partly I'm sure because there won't be any on the Moon or Mars, maybe the Boring Company could excavate a flame tunnel under the wetlands to exit away from sensitive areas and human habitat too. 😇 I'm sure your reveal in the upcoming video will be to your always very high standard. I'm looking forward to it.

Zack, as an Engineer, you may appreciate this. Creating a pad of water cooled steel launch pad is an untested design. Sure, water passing under the steel will cool it and increase its melting temperature. Similar to a bell nozzle having its fuel first cool the nozzle before returning to the turbo pump. But I don't think there is a calculation or a test example of removing that much heat. They are talking about the intense heat, pressure, and vibration of 17,000,000lbs of force and heat. The water in the plates will probably expand faster than the heat can escape. It will probably buckle from underneath as well as on top. The flow rate and volume is going to have to be enormous and tested. For rapid and reusable... the best option would be a deep water trench like at Stennis. They could run that shit all day but that's not going to happen at Boca Chica. If it was my engineering team, we would be building, testing and reiterating at Marshall before trying at Boca Chica. Then, the FAA could have some confidence in the design to issue the launch license.

Rocket started falling over, they had to immediately gimbal to place the bottom out where the top was, this gave it that same effect, we saw with star hoppers, off center thrust. They probably won't admit, but Elon, must of been shitting bricks when that thing sat there blasting the pad for ever.
