SSTE is simply just for a different type of player. Whatever jank it has or had is another question. SSTE wants you to play dynamic base defence and strategy, erecting order against chaos while Helldivers encourages you to leap feet first into it.

For someone who loves the 1997 movie, this game is a must have. You can really experience the crazyness of those arachnid hordes that they had in the movie. The idea is that your not a super soldier. You just one of the cogs in the war machine, doing your part. It's not about who gets the most kills, it's about surviving as a team. And for those who say that this looks like a Ps2 or Ps3 game I have to say I never played anything on those consoles that looked or ran this good. I'm playing on Ps5 and it runs a smooth 60fps, even when there's a bazillion things happening on screen. I gladly paid the 50€ for this and can't stop thinking about this game. I bought Helldivers 2 because it looked like Starship Troopers but now I don't need it anymore because I have the real ST experience!

The game is honestly fine and a hell of a lot of fun. Easily one of the best movie to video game adaptations out there. The best part of the game is that the bug bodies never disappear so they can stack and other bugs will climb them.

Ive been enjoying the game myself. I’ve been playing it on Xbox and I have not run into any lag problems or even glitches or bugs even on hard mode where there are tonnes of bugs spawning I honestly think it’s not a bad game it sticks to the source material a lot. I disagree with some of the things you said but there were some good points you made also yeah I think it’s pretty fun but a good video anyways and you definitely did make some good points

i feel like the sidearm kill bugs faster and flamethrower is to clear the bugs body pile so they cant climb over walls or when they bunched up together during base defense. The weapons in this game is a bit underwhelming but i understand it's so you stick together in a group like in the movie.

This game, despite its 15-man dev size (Arrowhead has 100+ and the backing of sony money), each update brought something exciting each time (like permanent bodies).

The game is in a better place than it was. I dunno why they released it in this state. It felt like it should still be in Early Access for another 6 months. You are meant to be a random grunt. You aren't a super soldier and they don't give you crazy world ending weapons either. Meant to be more of a team based tactical lite game. Getting a good full lobby team that is on Comms and tactics then you can roll the bugs on hard difficulty without hiccups. That is unless your game runs smooth enough and doesn't crash out. You are fighting the Meta bugs, too.

Hard mode in ARC is extremly tough. Even when the team is very good (recently had a match with an exeptional team, were i was 100% confident we gonna make it). Wave 7 and we were done. Normal hard mode is fine, but when you get perks like tiger abmush and double threat you literally get overrun sometimes

I would have recommended the game when it first launched in early access. Back then it was pretty fun, and had a lot of potential. But not only have they wasted that potential, the game got worse over time. Optimization is a big one, I could run this game at medium setting and maintain 60 fps at launch. 3 major patches in and I was down to 30, unstable. 1.0 the game is literally unplayable even at low settings. I get 9-14 fps now. There are a lot more issues with the 1.0 launch. But that's the most ridiculous one.

I think one of the big benefits HD2 had in its favor was the visuals and those “cinematic” viral moments that served as marketing. I’m not sure that will be the same for this game since the visuals look like they’re from 1-2 gens back. Hoping this succeeds so that we get better games in the future.

The devs got the idea for this game when mod devs for their Squad game made a starship trooper mod with actual bug AI. What we have with this game is a very rudimentary game that the devs pumped out onto early access half-cocked at $25 and is just testing the waters to see if players would buy cosmetics for it or not. It was initially just a very bare-bones premise, with many game systems copied over from Squad.

There is so much work to be done with this game still and it's almost 50 Euros where I live. This is just not a 50 Euro game (plus the DLCs and stuff). I bought Stellar Blade for 57 Euros discounted. Price tags set expectations and it fails to live up to it. I love the franchise, SST got me into HD2 in the first place, but this is something I would have played 15 years ago. The first thing that came to mind was Onslaught, which was an *amazing* co-op Wii title, but that my mind went there is not good.

Ah it looks ok. Small dev team and looks fun. Starship Troopers is a great IP too. I'd like it if Helldivers 2 had a mini Starship Troopers crossover in that some of the planets had Starship Trooper bugs on it for us to battle as a change from the Terminids.

It can be argued this is purely for franchise fans, i can accept that... But then ive seen the movies and The Roughnecks anime, and ive played the super early pre-alpha attempts back when the technology wasnt even close to today and kept destroying my computers OS. Helldivers is NOT the same game, they are different and fun in different ways. +/- goes both sides. I cant choose either or because the core intended identity is different. I lean slightly more towards SST for the reasons some will think its bad. By far as the technical imperfections, im glad i stayed with Cyberpunk and the rewards have been great. So technicals only matter if the dev doesnt keep grinding.

Have you tried DRG i nthat case? I know the video is a joke but DRG doesn't look realistic but dopamine boost from killing packs of bugs is huge. It almost doesn't have annoying hunters constantly jumping on you and killing you in 2 hits. Overall the game is great but progression in first ~5 hours is kinda slow. Pretty underrated gem if you like HD2.

It looks completely dated, like it came out before 2010, animations are laughable, fire looks like cartoon or sthn, gameplay doesn't really engage me, death timers are trash. For all the people crying about d. L. C's. They Do nothing for the game, just cosmetics. Game has to make money to keep going. But I guess you all think you know, making a video game is free.

Helldivers truly is an all encompassing force, it's "The Metal" song: EDF6, SM2 now ST:E all tried to kill HD2 But failed, as they were struck to the ground.

EDF didn't try to compete with helldivers. It has always had a smaller but loyal following in the west. EDF 5 and 6 are amazing games and completely different from the type of experience helldivers provides.

wdym they tried to kill? they're all in their own niche, space marine is 40K, that's gonna have a fanbase regardless of what you think EDF as a franchise existed long before helldivers did and will continue to do so long after helldivers is nothing but an afterthought This is the only game i can think of that looked at HD2 and said "bet" and even then, the premise is completely different; you're not a 4 man squad capable of bearing a space ships orbital cannons down, you're a battalion of soldiers working together to try and win through teamwork and communication, and as anyone with experience in larger scale online games can tell you, that almost never holds up, because there's too many protagonists running around. stop trying to pit everything up against helldivers 2, it's not COD and BF.

@@shadowsketch926 Yeah but there are people who genuinely dislike HD2, for outshining EDF & ST:E. Sandlot not taking a risk to attract more players for EDF, is honestly a disservice to fans. Moment HD2 released it was over for ST:E, hopefully Offworld can make it play better for the committed. As for SM2, it's not about the game. It's about the heretical dissidents who believed SM2 would kill HD2. Nerfs or not most came to realize they treated HD2 to harshly.

Well since on xbox we can't have helldivers 2 because Sony is trash this is the closest thing to it in my opinion. Also it's a very fun game to me any person telling me otherwise is forever wrong.

Kinda bummed to see people bashing games that aren't that bad. Of course youre entitled to your own opinion, but alot of it seems excessive or unnecessary. Im currently enjoying Helldivers, Space Marine 2, AND Starship Troopers. Yeah Starship troopers is a little dated but its bare bones are enjoyable and fun and i dont have to pay anything to enjoy it. Its these games that make me feel like the 360 days
