Thx for the video, that confirms I could use the MV-1 as main driver for my mallet-studio project and record directly into it. Now it would be cool if Roland could let us export all the stems (including the vocal takes) separately.

isn't it like in the other roland grooveboxes/multi part synths? you connect them over usb and you can record separate tracks to the DAW.

@@pablo_costas yes it is possible to get stems this way. This requires the proprietary driver though. Would be more convenient if the internal export to sd feature supported stems export.

Hello again. Just opened my mv 1 I got myself for Christmas 🎄! At first I was disappointed but remembered this video. Sure enough, this thing does everything I wanted it to(you can sequence external instruments with a midi controller keyboard) so, not only did I have to apologize for complaining, but also thank you for your time to show us how to really use this thing.hope your having a wonderful Christmas because mine has been grate.

Have you figured out how to choose which MIDI CCs the knobs send out? I know it lets you choose Tx CC but it doesn’t make sense if you can’t select the CCs to send. Cheers!

Hello Starsky. Great vids! Do you know if you can control the onboard MV1 instruments with a midi keyboard that only has USB out? Or will I need a USB IN-OUT MIDI Interface Cable Converter? Also, second qeuzzy, do you know if you can use the MV1 as a MIDI Controller itself to control MIDI instruments inside of a DAW via a midi enabled Audio interface? Im trying to figure out a way to use mine as a flexible part of my DAW workflow and I feel that If I could find an answer to these two questions it would help tremendously. Thanks for reading this. @@StarskyCarr I know too little to get the great sounds out of it and it does not seem to be super easy to sync it with the MV1 (I went to the store yesterday, and even those guys had issues to make it work) and make sure the recording syncs up with your drums and others?? I am a stupid beginner though.. 😊✨. I need some raw sounds to my songs for sure.

Yes... I’ve tried it. Check out my other video where I sequence some eurorack with it. Press record, wait for the countin and it’ll start recording everything in sync.

Oh sorry I misread ... yeas I was recording got the vocal track. For a looper you have to ensure it’s exactly the right length to loop it. Not tried it tbh but I think it would be difficult.

Yes... each track sends its own MIDI on different channels.

I've been looking at hardware sequencers for live work - I'm a guitarist and I want something where you just hit play and does an entire song sequence of chained patterns. It's been disappointing to see how few sequencers have a decent pattern chaining feature. If they have one at all many of them only let you chain a small number or force them into a certain order. Arturia Keystep and Beatstep and Elektron Digitakt to name a few.

Yes, you don’t need to use a track up to send midi clock. It’s an additional signal to the track MIDI data.

I’m not sure it’s all in there… maybe it’s experience that helps but it’s a while since I made this so can’t remember. But this is why I set up the channel in the first place - to help - so hopefully it’s useful.

I’ve left it on KZbin’s auto settings. Having said that... it’s only 10 seconds in 8 minutes... quite a lot less than TV! And TV producers get paid 🤷‍♂️😂 Roland and shops gets money from selling their kit but then they’re not quite as unbiased and warts and all demos. I suppose it depends on what’s most important to you. If the info that you get from channels on KZbin is valuable there’s always the option of premium. Crazy that anyone would do this much work for free (I still only get around 10% of minimum wage per hour and only just covers costs but doing it to help people like you..so there’s that as well). Just sayin...
