The man who couldn’t understand “travel” (I understood it) sounded like he was probably not a native English speaker himself (maybe French), which probably contributed to the confusion, so don’t feel bad!!! 😁

I'm from Vancouver and wanted to see you but I was out of town. All the best on your trip and I look forward to your updates!
I think that guy was German maybe? He's probably been travelling alone for a long time an forgot how to interact with people. Anyway, don' worry, your pronunciation is fine! And you can always spell a word out to be more clear!
カナダ横断始まりましたね✨ 楽しみにしてます!! Journeyって言った時に、 男性が“Go on a trip?”って言ってくれてましたね! That's exactly what I wanted to say!て言えてたら良かったですね😆

travelの単語だけだと“strawberry”とか“trouble”とかに間違われやすいので、 “I mean, I'm traveling in canada.”とか“I mean, It's like “a journey” or “go on a trip””とかなにか文章にすれば理解してくれやすくなるかもです✨ カナダ素敵ですね✨どうかお気を付けて!✨️
