I never realized how many start and park teams had good finishes in 2009. They weren’t slow, just no money

I remember this era of NASCAR, principally during COT Era. Drivers like Dave Blaney, Michael Mcdowell, Brad Keselowski, Scott Speed, David Gilliand, Josh Wise, J.J Yeley drove for these teams. We miss 43 cars on the field like old days.

Keselowski actually won a race while on one of these teams

Thanks for watching! Part 2 over the 2011 season through the end of start and parking is coming within the next two weeks!

Ahh 😯 those were the days, I was just becoming a fan in late 2008, some of those back markers would qualify really well, Dave Blaney In particular.

kinda sad tbh for Blaney to be a start and park driver

@@SebrystianVettel I think if you look at his career it really wasn’t all that memorable, a lot of his highlights were in qualifying, or guys in front of him wreck and he wins, I think he was 3rd as well in the 2003 southern 50, anyway my point is, he was essentially a journeyman driver, who occasionally had a bright spot.

These start and parks were only there to collect the purse money and NASCAR didn't want to lose their precious 43 car streak. The 66 got a handy 141k for running 23 laps at the Brickyard 400.

Great job! It was a blast following these teams back then, and fun to look back on their highlights.

Thanks! As I think I mentioned in there, your field fillers videos were a big inspiration

I have a Love Hate relationship with start and parks on the hand I understand that they can't run the full race but on the other hand your taking a spot from another team that could have been in the race if it wasn't for you So I just have a love Hate relationship with it.

Well that’s the thing, they are normally not taking a spot from a team. Maybe another start in Park team…..I guess on the off chance they qualify well and s&p

You should also do one on start and park in the Xfinity Series and the Truck Series. While start and park practically disappeared from the Cup Series in 2015 with the charter system in 2016 sealing its fate at the top level, the practice would continue in both Xfinity and Truck Series throughout the 2010s into part of the early 2020s.

I’ll definitely consider it. For trucks and xfinity I’d probably do a “history of start and park teams finishing well” or something since there were so many start and park teams and for such a long time
@josephbettano2569

@@racingwithjoe It would be extensive especially in the Xfinity Series since start and park was often used by small teams as a means of funding an underfunded ride that would run full races

13:44 Not entirely true. Joe would have full funding for the following race at Texas 2, again from HostGator, but a combination engine failure and contact with the outside wall would leave him 43rd. It's also debatable that he parked the Summer Daytona race, as he again had full funding from HostGator, and made it quite a bit longer than the other two S&Ps, Blaney and Papis

Didn't the carter system,change a lot of things and the economy crisis make a lot of nascar teams shut down
@racingwithjoe
@racingwithjoe Жыл бұрын
The economy crisis made the big teams shut down and allowed tons of start and Parkers to fill the cracks. The charter system forced start and parkers out since they wouldn’t get good money for last place unless they had a charter
