..Note that for a sentence to be a statement it is not necessary that we actually know whether it is true or false, but it must clearly be the case that it is one or the other. For instance, let us consider the statement: "There's life on some other planets in our galaxy". This is a statement, even though it is not confirmed whether there's life beyond the earth. Its truth value is unknown. However, this statement, like every other statement, has exactly one truth value: either true or false, but not both. Therefore, it is a statement.

I will show that numbers are built from images Example , 4 always represents 4 images, like 4 squares for instance. To be specific numbers are "labels" for groups of images 1. The main idea here is that maths is built from images (a) example , geometry is clearly made of images b) example 2, We claim numbers are built from images too, as say 4 , always represents 4 images, like 4 squares for instance. C) imaginary numbers are connected to images too , which is why they have applications in physics D) In general any mathematical symbol that comes to mind is connected to images too.

Hi! This is my second time watching this series, and I'm wondering if the auto-generated closed captions could be available. Some of the videos already have this, and it really helps me out. Thank you.

Hello, could I get some help because I don’t understand the true/false board. Like how do you know if something is false or true when writhing it in it? Thanks
@brightsideofmaths2 ай бұрын
Hello! Thanks for the question. The boards just show the definitions. They make sense with respect to our everyday logic but one should read them as definitions.

What do you mean by "living in a strange world" and considering that 2+2=5? With saying we should consider 2+2=5, you illustrated the necessity to take the whole true table into account. I don't understand what you meant.
@brightsideofmathsАй бұрын
What do you mean?
@zdenkaherova6581Ай бұрын
@@brightsideofmathsMinute 5:36 and on. "Not A should be a true statement." And that's what it is, right? Further you say: "However, that's not what the negation does, it considers both cases." Here is what exactly I don't understand: negation considers both cases. That means that in general, the statement can be falls after the negation of a falls statement? In other words: Are you generalizing, or are you talking about the statement: "2+2=5"? And what do you mean by talking about a "strange world"? I suppose, if "2" is defined to mean something else that one more than 1, the statement "2+2" could be equal to 5. Is that the case of a strange world?

@@brightsideofmaths, ok, I guess it's going to get clearer further on. I still don't understand this sentence. But nevermind. 👍
@brightsideofmathsАй бұрын
@@zdenkaherova6581 In our common mathematics, 2+2=5 is a false statement. If you define some other mathematics where 2+2 = 5 is true, then I call this a strange world. The logic does not care in which world you live, it works nevertheless.
