Hi lovelies, Hi lovelies, where you live can significantly impact your personal growth by giving different opportunities. Early last year, I realized I needed a change, so I decided to relocate. In this video, I'm talking about all things going through my mind as I'm starting life from scratch all over again in my late 30s.
Love, Poppy xx

My outlook on money changed when I realized someone making $300,000 can retire broke & someone making $80,000 can retire a multi-millionaire. Living within your means and living a frugal lifestyle is the first step to financial independence. I just hit the one million mark last year, cheers to everyone striving to get there someday.

Varied sources of income is wise and especially living within your means. My net worth is over $1M and I can pay my bills with no stress, but I don't live like I have that. I have no complaints.

By the time I was 45 I had lived in VT, NH, CT, MA, FL, NC, WI, AZ, NM, and Vegas twice. I'm now 65 and the past five years have lived in Mexico and twice in Europe. I will have another move by the end of this year to a sunnier climate. I've done this alone with only my dog. We go through growth stages every 7-10 years. We are constantly evolving. I meet so many women travelers along the way. I never want to be that person on my death bed thinking I shoulda, coulda, woulda but I was too afraid to try. At 38 you are still learning so much and grasping what is important to you. You have so many wonderful moments ahead. You will be a full powerhouse with each evolution. Try different things and do not consider anything a mistake. You are learning what you like and do not like. That is valuable. I have changed careers. From psychiatric caseworker, fashion industry and now I am working on my first fictional series.Congratulations and safe journey.

@@DurainMontong I did have a family. I'm even a proud grandmother. Many women travel with their partners, alone on vacations, after divorce and after a partner dies. I've had a divorce and a partner die. Sounds like you missed the point. Women can do anything, they have choices. You jumped to the conclusion that I've not experienced other aspects of life. I also have friends who married their high school boyfriends and never moved at all. They are perfectly happy. However, this conversation is about those who are making different choices and overcoming those fears.

I'm about to move out of country and it's scary but continuous growth and learning is so worth it :)

I am 36 and have started my life over once every few years 😂 I hope all those who are watching this truly truly believe my words - 30s is not too old. 40s is not too old. Anyone can start a new page anytime. The ONLY thing that truly stops us from doing what we want is money and opportunity. Society can say you should do this or do that by a certain age, all they want. It’s your life to live not people around you. At 32 I moved from California to New York. Because of a new job opportunity. At 34 I moved to Canada and I’m starting over. Like the wise Natasha Bedingfield once sang, “Today is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten.”

I remember worrying If I made the right decision. But there was an excitement in me that something better would happen. I am now 40, single, with no kids, in a better headspace, doing a job I like, living in a country I love, with big hopes for the future. I am turning 30 soon. There is no need to regret the past as it is a part of your life and your story. What you will do and what you have done is what you were going to do and would have done because all people always make the best decisions in their lives at that point in their life.

thank you so much for this video. I don't know you but your video came up randomly. I will be 36 in July and I have struggled to change my career for years. I finally went back to uni a year ago to pursue my passion but I have been totally depressed because I have had no lack in finding any job at all. I left a career were I was stable and had good income(but was so stressed I could not sleep at night) but now am back living with my parents cause I can't find a job. I keep trying but nothing seem to work. For society and many people around me, I am crazy cause I refuse to go back to my previous job and often I question myself too. I hope something will change soon. Changing successfully career at our age is not that easy and what is worse is the way all this is making me feel ashamed and like a big failure. Thanks for your words. They made me feel a bit better.

You’re not a failure, you’re a hero! It’s inspiring that you left something that didn’t suit you and you started at the bottom. That’s fine. At least you get to spend time with your parents. Just keep trying, mix with people and make friends and they could open doors for you in the career you want. Try and get a non paying work experience in the field you want to get into

@@scarlettkhan9667 Thank you so much for your kind words. I am not sure how things will go from now on, but at least I have found an other job in the meantime and don't feel absolutely useless. For all the people that continue to struggle: do not give up. Even if I am still struggling I do not regret quitting my previous stable job because it was not sustainable. I gave myself an other chance. We all deserve it.

Been moving between countries most of my life and to be honest I've never really wanted to ""settle down", it always felt like I would "limit" myself and my opportunities. I love the freedom and being able to travel and work at the same time (so grateful for this opportunity), yet I have a country I can call home, even though I wasn't born there. Im turning 30 later this year and it's incredibly daunting and scary because I still dont have a clue what i want to do in life in terms of my career. I'm also single and can't see that changing any time soon because of my lack of social life. I think it's comforting to know that others are experiencing the same problems. I don't think I've seen the best version of myself since i was in university. I've wanted to live in another country to push myself out of my comfort zone, but I've been too lazy and procrastinate too much, so it never happened. I hope we can all find that drive and ambition that we need in life

I’m here because my partner and I are moving across country to move in with my sister and her family. I never thought that right before my 40th birthday this would be what we are doing. It’s the only way we can see as two successful persons with degrees and long term careers as how to open opportunities and move away from some of the hardships we shed from our childhood and 20s. We are ready for adventure but also just want some reassurances and to know we will have security and stability. What you said resonated. This place is no longer serving us for our personal growth and growth as a couple. So…we are moving across the country!!

I think it's really amazing that you are able to start over, I was 27 when I moved to another state from everything I have ever known and am still "establishing" I suppose. In this time since I have started over and moved and changed jobs and everything, so much has come from it - I met my person, I am working to build a life I have always wanted and its like I am rediscovering myself for the first time here again. Never stop starting over from scratch, like code or even art there are many iterations of the best version of you! Which I am still trying to give grace to. What I wish more people understood is that we no longer are forced to live only one life. Starting over should be a triumph! I've cycled through three lives already, and each iteration of myself is better than the one that came before it. I become a better mother, a better woman, a better lover, a better employee, a better leader... Life becomes less scary and daunting and more imaginative and available for possibility. Honestly... staying stagnant is more shameful imho

It’s so good to see this and read some of the comments! In summer 2020 my two year live-in artist residency contract ended so despite England’s guidelines saying you couldn’t kick anyone out, I asked to extend my stay by a month and was told no. I applied and was accepted to do a PhD in Scotland while house sitting in Ireland but with the pervasive lockdowns I would not have been able to access the uni studio or supervisors in person so I made the tough decision to return to Canada to help with my elderly parents. After years of living in several countries and doing artist residencies in order to continue to evolve as an artist, I found myself grounded in a place that the circumstances provided. Three years later, some great things have happened but I’ve spent lots of time admonishing myself for my years of wanderings, what others see as instability, and now, after putting together a museum exhibition I’m ready to find home. It is so helpful hearing the stories of others and how they manage to stay focused and evolve. Thank you!

Sometimes we need to get lost in order to truly find ourselves. Moving away from a decade-long relationship is a huge change for anyone. All the best to you on your new journey! I'm sure the person you become in the next 5-10 years will look back and be surprised at how far they've come and what life has brought them. 😊

I’m 37 with 3 children. Seriously thinking about relocating. I live in a state no where near family and it’s hard. Videos like yours has been popping up on my timeline so I will take it as a sign.

I disagree with the earlier in life you make those three choices, the better. Doesn't really matter when you make those choices because your preference for those three things will change all throughout your life.

I agree. Life is not a race. Everyone go through it at their own pace.

I am 39 and moved to UK from France 3 years back. My first 25 years in India, 10 years in France, now been 3 years in UK. I am enjoying my stay in UK with my son and husband. We did plan to settle here before we moved. But life has plans , In 3 years time we are planning to move to Asia, either Thailand, India or Indonesia. I am equally excited and worried. Its a blessing and a curse to have plan B. All the best . When you have the confidence, it becomes like a obvious reason to move. Go with the flow, life is going to be beautiful.😊

At 35, i moved on my own from South Africa to Ireland to better my career opportunities. Almost hitting the 2 year mark now...still single and trying to make new friends. It's definitely not easy, and I've had ups and downs. In the long run, I know it was best for me.

I remember a quote I read when I was about 35 : « What if fail ? What if you fly ? ». When you talked about failure I remember it vividly. So what if you fly ? ❤️

It takes a lot of courage to start over. It’s a risk many are afraid to make. Most would rather be miserable in a job they hate because of the “security” it offers. Having faith is risking it all with no guarantees!

Wish you well with your new chapter in life Poppy. So grateful that shared about the initial struggling days. When you said what happened in 2009 it literally felt like god talked to me through you. That's where I am at right now.. 💓

I can relate to all you have been going thru and I cried too when you were sitting down on the floor in your bare house. Currently, I am in the UK but I was previously working in Abudhabi. I went to the same thing and you inspired me. I wish you all the best!
