Great examples. So few people know where to start or are told to start with dry beans and rice.

The reason rice and beans are a good place to start, is because the two combined contain the 8 essential amino acids, then all the other things make it all the more tasty, plus added nutrition. Happy prepping.

Persistence is key. Yes, start with beans and rice, then go on to the things to go with the beans and rice.

I know it’s just putting something in there out of the box but did you know that chilly powder as well as flavour. It’s a natural blood clotting agent so can have medicinal qualities

Good hau on a budget, and excellent to have some tinned meat and fish in there. It is invaluable advice to those who want to develop a pantry. The tinned meat "dishes" like chicken curry or beef chilli can be a bit low on actual protein. (A 200g tin of plain chicken is £2, and 400g of pilchard at £1.60 are also possible within a restricted budget.)

You really have to shop around to cover the bases. I like M&S for Italian style coffee, Home Bargains for some good prices on dairy. Asda does good deals on various flours and tinnned foods. Sainsburys is good for cheap applesauce. Lidls corned beef is a good price. And 27p dried spaghetti.

Those Sainsburys baked beans are Tasty considering only 27p. Bean buying them for ages.

That's a fab haul, Ana. I really enjoyed seeing the videos and especially the overall amount at the end. It also reminds me to get some more tinned potatoes and flour. Something that might be useful is I've been buying those part-baked breads. Normally I don't like the taste much but the baguettes from Asda taste really good like proper baked bread. They keep for a decent while and when they get up to date I bake them and when cold cut them into slices, bag and freeze them. Especially nice for cheese and tomatoes on toast, lol. :)

I opened a par-baked pack of baguettes a year past it's date, it was fine to cook and eat. Only thing about it was after cooking, it went rock hard almost immediately. I didnt care. Went down to the local Saw Mill and they sliced it up nicely for me. Buttered and dipped in soup, still yum. Definitely couldn't have had them as "sandwiches" though, as I'd have lost my teeth.

I might buy some tinned broad beans, I don't have any in my stores and I am always on the look-out for different tinned vegetables as I believe the supply chain on vegetables is very fragile and the current weather isn't helping. I tried tinned jackfruit recently for the first time, and that tasted awful.

Canned Fava beans (I'm not sure if it's the same bean as the video) are great with minced garlic, lemon juice, ground cumin and ground cayenne served perhaps with a few green onions and a hard boiled egg and pickled Italian peppers...

First country approves artificial meat for pets - FT The development is the natural starting point for the lab-grown meat market in the UK, the producer has said A British company has announced that it will begin selling artificial chicken to pet-food producers this year, making Britain the first country in Europe to commercialize ‘lab-grown’ meat. Owen Ensor, the CEO and co-founder of the start-up firm Meatly, said on Wednesday 07/17/24 that the business has received approval for its products from the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

@@AnasFoodLifestyle I just wanted you to see this latest 💩 The company believes pet food will become the natural starting point for the cultivated meat market in Britain. A Meatly spokesperson told Just Food website that, despite the company currently being “primarily focused on pet food,” its processes and products are safe and healthy for humans. “We will likely license our industry-leading technology to human food companies,” they said. Meatly, which has so far raised £3.5 million ($4.6 million) from investors including US venture capital firm Agronomics and UK pet-food retailer Pets at Home, said it expects to reach industrial volumes within the next three years. According to the spokesperson, the company will now try to establish itself in the US, Canadian, and EU markets “for pet food initially.” The cultivated or cultured meat, which is made from animal cells grown in vats, is currently approved for human consumption in the US, Singapore, and Israel.

it is amazing how quick it mounts up. I have just started on my Mylar collection, got rice, flour, salt, sugar, soup mix (lentils, barley and some other stuff) and pasta's all bagged up and have now run out of things to bag 😞 Had a look for some dried beans (never had them, so thought I had better give them a go) but can't find any in Tesco or Morrisons, so where are you UK preppers getting them from and what else is Mylarble ?

@@AnasFoodLifestyle Not sure if I want to do the bulk buying thing as there is only me here and space is at a premium 😞 Also I have never had beans and rice, so unsure if my stomach will like it, so I need to really give it a go first, or else it will just be a waste 😞 I have seen them mentioned on so many prepper channels, that I just assumed that they were a readily available thing, seems that the UK palette is a tad different to our US cousins 🙂

Hello Ana you always do great pepper pantry food stock up. I follow your channel but I don't always write a comment. Anyway could you please let me know how long after the date on the glass jar of white lasagne sauce will last after the date on the glass jar. I say this because I have notice that I have a lot of jars from 2022. This was because I was stocking up food and household items and other personal items in many different rooms. However this weekend I am going to transform all of food/household items and other items into one room so I can see and know what I have. So could you let me know how long after the date on the glass lasagne jar I can keep before I need to get rid of. Sorry it is a long comment. Take Care Ashwina
