I know and the company I get those seeds from keeps sending red-orange never coral. So I will try orange next year.

I just have to put my two cents in for the old fashion zinnia! Bright multiple colors, tall varieties, humming birds like orange, red, and purple colors , and zinnias are loved by bees, butterflies, and gold finches which nibble on the underside seeds when flowers are mature. These and Lemon Queen and Tayio sunflowers are also appreciated. Can't resist planting them every summer.

For the last two years I’m planting rubekias/echinacea in winter sowing method. And I like it. It’s outside specially I don’t have special room for all my plants. Also I love verbena, lupin, parsley and dill in the same method. You should try!

I grew Silver Tidal Wave this year and they are insane! I have had to prune them back multiple times, both in pots and in ground.

Great job Roxana! I don't know if you remember but I was worried about my coleus not growing and my rudbeckia going so slow but you told me to be patient and now they are beautiful! Great video:)

Thank you for this recap. I will be trying the Sahara Rudbeckia next year for sure! Question for you - do use the 5x5 microgreen trays or the 5x5 extra strength trays that look a bit deeper for you seed starting?

I also grew the Maverick Violet. I was expecting a different color. Across my garden they look like a neon red! I'm not really a fan and won't grow that color again. I will stick with the other colors.

I thought rudbeckia were hardy. I hope they return next year. I’ve tried for two years to get coral geranium seeds but this company sends me a red-orange color. Next year I will try a different company or just orange. I was able to overwinter a white and pink. There should have been more but I don’t have ideal storage. Didn’t know what to expect on non stop begonias either and I may have had more survive but I was expecting a corm not a small knot of roots and thought they were dead 🙄. I have been trying new varieties but sometimes I think many flowers need a warmer or longer season than I have. Two vines-Cup & Saucer just keeps growing and growing and wonder when it will bloom. Blackeyed Susan vine seems allergic to climb as it’s always on the ground And it’s only like 6” and it popped a flower 🙄. Then the ice plant-so thought it would be like moss roses-it’s not. Very picky about water and not so sure it likes full sun. I will never know as they seemed to disappear either on their own or rabbits. Last year the bummer was Tithonia and thought it was a weed and let it grow. It was over 6’ popped a flower and the frost took it. My aim next year on all plants is to try more short maturity dates as u found a 45 day cauliflower that performed perfectly. The snapdragons that are to be 3’-some are getting there but most were weak stemmed. They are starting to come around, but so is fall. The poppies are getting banished to the meadow flower area as they are too messy to deal with. I’m really loving the rose performances and may just switch to those, penstemon, speedwell and baby’s breath. Lol, next year there will be a whole new love/hate relationship when all the other perennials start to show who they are. Time is going fast and with all these mosquitoes I feel I’ve missed the joy of gardening stuck inside like winter. It’s been the worst Ever. Thank you for your take on flowers and I already have my Bootstrap arsenal 😊. Oh, and I was just thinking about start times also. I will put blinders on when all the other gardeners in warm zones are starting. It didn’t pay to start peppers early as they have a set time according to weather when they will produce and that’s it. We’ve had too much rain this year-we are 11” over avg so far.

There are some rudbeckias that are perennials here, and others are annuals like this one. The mosquitoes just started being a problem here, and I say that because I am their favorite person in my town so I feel like all of them hang out in my garden during the summer, nobody else seems to be that bothered by them.

@@SoilandMargaritas yep, that’s me! Although I’ve asked my husband to help recently and he found out how unpleasant it was and he usually isn’t bothered. Thx about some are annuals. They come out with so many varieties now. What I thought were perennial sage were annuals except one.
