Coming from a Premiere Pro user, I'm just getting started with my Davinci grading journey and didn't know where to begin, but I find that your channel is the best place! Everything is just incredibly well presented and clearly explained. Keep it up man, looking forward to more. 💪

Your videos are amazing! Would love to a see a tutorial you talked about with changing DAY to NIGHT shots in Davinci. Would love to see some exteriors as well as the shots you said you would not fix in this video. Thank you so much for all your help!

So much information in one video and still there is a ton more to learn. I have been using your nodestructure since i've watched the first video (and went back many times because i didn't remember everything) Might stick to the old one (because it's simpler in a way), however the thing with the exposure and jumping between primaries and hdr mode when switching clips is really painful so i will adjust that as you recommended. XD Thanks alot looking forward for more videos.

great video! one question though, if i want to use the Kodak 2383 lut, do I add it after the DWG- REC 709 node on the timeline level?
@runhaar18 ай бұрын
If you are using the kodak 2383 lut from Davinci, yes

Great video, I've been able to learn a lot from this and your past videos. You mention about blacks crashing below the 64 level. Is there a level for highlights and/or whites are blown out?

It's a pity that you left the RGB mix panel visible, as I don't understand too much English I can't see what tools you were using. But thank you.

This has changed a lot since I watched your other node tree video. Kind of reminds me of Cullen Kelly’s process. One thing I am having trouble with is this. Say you have 20 clips, but 5 of them you don’t want to be affected by the timeline grade, you want to exclude them. How would you go about this? Can’t seem to find the answer on KZbin.
@aaronpeteres5 ай бұрын
Actually, I think I figured it out. In the group grade, use post-clip, not timeline. Then just leave the other clips as they are. All good!

So I have a question with the whole colour management and space transform. I use DaVinci on Mac and when I used gamma 2.2 or 2.4 my colours were washed out. I did some research and I found some settings and saw that exporting at rec709-A as the gamma was the fix. However this feels wrong I was wondering what your thoughts are on this.
@runhaar18 ай бұрын
It is technically "wrong", but if you are only creating videos for the web, I'd stick with rec709a for Mac

You did a tutorial a while back on how to pull the best key possible (Title: "The BEST KEYING technique you've never heard of!"). I'm strugling to integrate this technic in the node stucture you use in this video. Where do you place the nodes to pull the key? In the Pre-Group? Timeline level? At the clip level?
@runhaar19 ай бұрын
You'd incorporate that on the clip level

Thank you 😉

any downside to putting the hsv node on timeline level?
@runhaar18 ай бұрын
Yes, if you put it on the timeline you don't have control over what it does per clip. You can run into big problems

Common sense from the web says this: Gamma 2.2 is intended for well-lit viewing environments, 2.4 is for dimly lit viewing environments. Subjectively 2.4 can look nicer if the room is indeed dimly lit, but can feel too dark in brighter environments. Gamma 2.4: As an additional choice, this gamma setting is used to enhance the detail in scenes that are slightly too bright, providing increased contrast, and improved visibility of vivid colors. Perfect for HD television production, and the Rec. 2.2 vs 2.4 is a judgement call. Traditionally, 2.2 is the "standard" for "typical living room" viewing with "typical lighting condition". In the past 5-10 years there has been a slow migration to 2.4, which means the viewing room's lighting condition is darker compared to a 2.2 viewing room. For TV and smart devices (tablets, phones, etc.), I think 2.2 is still better. For dramatic scripted work, 2.4 is preferred. 709 is the standard color space for TV and streaming devices. There are other color spaces, but for simplicity and compatibility Rec709 is what you should consider. The bottom line is that 2.2 vs. 2.4 is subjective, and wouldn't show any huge difference.

When you use 2.2 and say web do mean like social media instagram/youtube
