Start Your Watercolours With This First Wash Technique

In this week's video, I paint atmospheric mountains and a loch in Skye, Scotland.
Using a beautiful Patreon members photo as a reference, I demonstrate how to achieve light and atmosphere with the first wash. I also paint a rainbow, which possibly one of the most difficult things to get right !!

Thank you. Acrylic and watercolour are completely different, neither is more “reliable” than the other. Both have their benefits, depending on what you’re trying to achieve.

I don’t understand how you dont get cauliflowers. Does the paper really stay wet that long in the first phase? Is that why?

@@bordergirl Generally, you get cauliflowers by adding paint that is wetter than what’s already on the paper. It’s about controlling the water on the paper and brush.
