So after coiling the hair you can't go back through and clip the ends a bit where it's frayed at?
@TheLocRoom Жыл бұрын
Yes you can but it’s easier to do before you start coiling.

How do you get them to stay in place & not unravel?... usually I see people use a bunch of clips, extra styling, or a lot of product.
@TheLocRoom2 жыл бұрын
I ask my customers to mist their hair with water and a lite oil daily or 2-3 times a week at least. This encourages the hair to loc and tangle on its own. Also wearing a bonnet/ scarf every night. This will not prevent the hair from growing how ever it wants but the hair strands within each coil are more likely to loc and tangle together. Each time they come back for a retwist, I clean up their parts as needed, and retwist their hair neatly back into the loc we are trying to start. I just keep repeating this process. Eventually the hairs stay tangled, creating the loc. However, even after locs have matured, sometimes there are still loose strands or hair that refuses to stay in place. I hope this answers your question.

Also the coils just stay in place after the initial install. I haven’t had any reason to use clips to keep them in place.

Thank you for your replies they do help, yours are just so neat at the base. I tried these on my son & they unravel almost immediately. I guess I just don't have the magic touch. 😁

Some times it’s the comb you are using. It can take a few tries sometimes to get the technique.

hi my hair goes past my chin i have a curly afro what u think would be the best/fastest way for me to get locs
@TheLocRoom2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend comb coils. Your hair is longer so it shouldn’t take a long time for your hair to loc, depending on your texture. However any method will work with your length of hair.

Hi I would love some tips for starting shorter locs I'm a guy from UK just starting out could you help?
@TheLocRoom2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t start locs on hair shorter than 4inches. Comb coils or two strand twists to start them. They are the easiest to remove if you decide you want to start over, or don’t want locs anymore. Make sure your hair is clean and deep conditioned to start. Also, you’ll want your ends clipped, so the locs are neat when installed. The only thing to decide after that is size. Which size you want is up to you.

You can unlock. It’s best to unlock within the first year if you aren’t going to keep them permanently.

Jamaican Mango and Lime loc gel for some clients. For others just oil and water (argan oil, jojoba oil, grape seed oil). I have also misted the hair with rose water.

Pls what do you add to the hair before startig
@TheLocRoom2 жыл бұрын
Just make sure the hair is clean and conditioned. That’s all that’s required before starting. I mist the hair with oil and water before starting each coil.

how many did yu do on each row ?
@TheLocRoom2 жыл бұрын
Honestly I’m not sure how many locs she has. She did not ask for a specific number. She only specified size. Also, everyone’s head is shaped differently. So 90 locs on one person will look differently on someone else, depending on size of locs and the shape of the persons head.

You must be use to doing this ur so fast. My son has long hair and I’m having a hard time with it getting stuck in the comb. I can’t move that fast

@@TheLocRoom thanx it didn’t come out too bad for my first time doing it. I would show u but it doesn’t give the camera option. I can’t wait to get like u. Well maybe just close to it. My daughter has locs but she started hers with the twist.

I started mine with twists as well. They are almost to bra strap length now. It turned to be good way to start them for me.

Salut mais comment défaire ça ?
@TheLocRoom2 жыл бұрын

Did you blow dry their hair first?

No. The hair is damp, freshly washed and conditioned before install.
