Toyota used two different type starters for the 2002 Camry. It may be others but I have a 2002. The parts store guy told me it depends on where the car was built. It doesn't matter. Take a look before you order to make sure you get the right part. Maybe there's a way to move wires around to get either to fit, but why bother.

The Japan produced and American produced models of the Camry have a lot of differentiating parts for some reason. I had no idea my 05 Camry XLE was built in Japan until I tried to replace my brake pads, turns out the Japan one has different clips.
