At last found somebody to explain, that the solenoid has two (2) windings! Not 1 as most people belive and explain wrongly.

I thought electrical current left through the negative terminal of the battery to the bike and returned through the positive terminal...

Electrons do but we say current flows from positive to negative, opposite of electrons.
