They’re not sycamore plants. They’re horse chestnut mate.

Yea sycamores are much different and they have maple shaped leaves but broader and sometimes have a fungus that causes black dots, And sycamores also reproduce by encasing their seed in a wing like leaf like how a maple does it to disperse it.

Here I was explaining to my colleagues, how to choose a tree to grow bonsais and basically any tree can be made one.. Telling them you might not want to start with big leaved varieties like horse chestnut 🤔😅 I know the defoliation in time will reduce the leaf size, but since they don't have a clue what that is I skipped the notion. Hope you succeed, looking forward to the updates 😊

@@LetsDoBonsai cool! You've been more lucky than me then, I seem to have lost all my collected seeds.. Maybe next year! I've only seen cotoneaster as ground cover so far, so that would be very interesting for me at least 😊

They make really nice bonsai, hopefully the chipmunks and squirrels will leave them alone, you might need Pete to guard them!

My seedlings are on their second year of growth. I cut the terminal bud off before spring and the leaves have come out relatively small. I’m hoping they will remain that size or have further reduction over time.
