I think there’s already a tool which helps with the zoning issue. You can stop zoning on certain roads on either one side or both

The mod is called Zoning Toolkit, but it broke after the 1.1.7f1 update

i don’t know what they changed, but i’m having a ton of problems with the economy since the patch! my services maintenance cost just keeps going up by itself. i hope i can understand what i’m doing wrong by watching your playthrough!!

It took me several hours to get a good hang of it, but it's definitely tricky at times. Don't get discouraged - hopefully my playthrough can assist!

The tile mod in this playthrough is probably going to make his economy different than yours to some degree. Just keep that in mind he's likely not paying the same tile upkeep costs.

For me it was a lot of patience. I started over several times and then finally just slowed down. It eventually evened out but it was a bit nerve wracking.

I just tried again, I found that focusing on industry at the start and having as many resource industries as possible right away worked for me. Even if you don't plan on having them in those first few tiles by the end, just put them down and move them later. In my starting 9 tiles I had grain, vegetables, livestock, lumber, and stone. That and my industrial taxes were down to 8 while keeping the rest at 10. It turned out fine. The next thing I did was spring for a geothermal powerplant since it doesn't need any imported resources and you can sell the excess power. Then I was solid. I did have to get a loan for the powerplant, but it worked out.

Yeah… most of the mods I use were broken so I had to add one at a time back until I found working ones. Hopefully they all get fixed soon!
