I did Ivf last year and did pgs. Someone told me something. PGS tells you just what the problems are and if that embryo is not compatible with life it won’t make a viable pregnancy anyway. I highly suggest pgs. You said you don’t want to give one embryo a better chance but you are doing that when they grade the embryos anyways and transfer the best one. Test. Always always test. Save your money and emotions on an Embryo that will not be viable no matter what you do. Baby dust!

I agree with you, and we did PGS for this reason. However, I kind of understand why it's an ethical dilemma for some people.
@BunsAndPearls

I kinda think that if you are already doing IVF might as well do the PGS. IDK maybe that is just me.

I agree. A couple with unexplained infertility can most likely go without pgs testing in the first try. My sister did and it worked her 3 embryos were viable and turned into babies. But with male factor infertility when you know there is issues with sperm quality I think it’s necessary.
@BunsAndPearls

We did IVF bc I have a very rare lung disease and it would be deadly for me to carry so we did IVF with surrogacy. We had never had any fertility issues and both on the younger side. We sent 5 blasts to testing and 3 came back normal. The other 2 were not normal and would never had made a pregnancy OR it would have and it wouldve been a miscarriage. You just never know what can happen. I think it is a huge gamble especially if you already have known issues like you said. Hopefully, they decide to test.
@marycn8960

Calla Something your case makes sense. But I know some people like phil and alex for example here on KZbin who get 6 or 7 embryos and only transfer one at a time only to end in miscarriage. Then they get so gutted because it didn’t end well. What did they expect? That it would work in the first try. With MFI it is very unlikely. Doctors need to be very honest with this people but I guess sometimes it doesn’t matter people will do what they want. Just giving my opinion of course. I’m glad you got your miracle baby ❤️

I second third and fourth doing PGS! It is expensive but I'm 100% certain that's why I have my rainbow baby. The two best quality embryos by grades for us were genetically abnormal. I think it's worth the cost for the peace of mind :) It's not about giving one more of a chance. It's about weeding out the ones that have absolutely no chance.

Anjali, is that even possible for the top grade embryos to be genetically abnormal? I’ve never heard this before, it scares the shit out of me! Mine wasn’t a top quality emby but It didn’t implant. I will have to do another round of ivf as I have no loving children and I’m desperate for my own family. But I’m not sure if I can go through all that emotional and psychological pain again especially if it fails!
@anaiduwhiteley
@anaiduwhiteley 6 жыл бұрын
@@tinarowe8388 I'm so sorry honey but yes, my highest grade was genetically abnormal. However just because it didn't implant doesn't mean it was. Sometimes the body just absorbs it and there's nothing you can do. When I got pregnant, I did a lot of old wives tales for that cycle. Wore socks the day of transfer and only took them off to shower, no cold foods and drinks, and most importantly I treated myself like I was sick. Stayed in bed or on the couch and just watched Netflix. It's hard. I actually hated being pregnant because I was too scared to enjoy it. Just know you're not alone. There's a huge community of us and you'll always have support. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you finally get your miracle baby!

Anjali thanks honey, that means a lot. You know my pain because you have been there, unfortunately those who haven’t been through infertility don’t have the faintest clue! Thanks again x
@anaiduwhiteley
@anaiduwhiteley 6 жыл бұрын
@@tinarowe8388 that's so true. People who haven't been through it don't know how to react so they always have good intentions but it never really helps to make you feel better. As hard as it is, the best advice I could give is to take it one day at a time. Don't overanalyze your symptoms and just relax as best as you possibly can.

It took the first time, even though my lining was less than .69cm.My doc said "a good IVF will implant", and it did So happy for you guys to try again, but keeping adoption on the burner as well. Same as me.i am very thankful to biotexcom. they give me great way.

I think you could save a lot of money (with medications) if you do PGS; instead of transferring embryos that may not survive, you transfer ones that have a chance. Even worse than the money is the heartbreak and time of transferring embryos who are genetically not going to survive. It is your call and up to you; I know people who have used this for gender only, and I know for a fact I couldn’t ever discard based on that. Tough decision.

Infertility really gives a tough time. And I have been TTC for 7 years. Now, I have consulted the doctor at Biotexcom clinic. I am also starting my IVF cycle. They have been always a good supporting clinic. I previously went there with my sister for her surrogacy. And this time for my IVF. Soon the process will be started.

So good to hear that you are going to start IVF. These treatments are betterment for the people like us. So why don't we avail it. And another thing is that clinic also plays the very important role for this. If the clinic is not good, these treatments also don’t work. Biotexcom is one of these good clinics. They provide these treatments in a good way. And the best thing about them is their charges are also very low. Best of luck for your journey.

Definitely do pgs. My dr didn’t even recommend it our first time around as we were both young and healthy and he saw no reason for the extra expense. We had 6 high grade embryos frozen and I subsequently had 4 pregnancies in 2 years. Out of those 6 embryos only 1 survived and is my miracle rainbow. If we had done pgs it could have likely prevented going through multiple miscarriages, heartache and significant time.

I used ovasital and it does not have side effects. I never really found anything that it dissolved well into though. However, I am in a hurry a lot so I just put it in whatever was convenient. I did ivf with genetic testing in 2016 and I told this to someone who was concerned about the ethics of it. (These are totally my feelings and they do not have to be yours.) No one does genetic testing so we can make sure our kids have blue eyes or are a specific gender. If you are at a point where you need to do genetic testing, it’s because you have been through something terrible. Wish you guys all the luck!

It dissolves well into water but you have to give it like 5 mins. I just drink it anyway before it’s dissolved 🤷🏻‍♀️ Yes, PGS isn’t something we are using to be “picky” about our baby! But we are 5.5 years into this and feel like this is our next best option for a healthy baby.

So happy to see this update from you guys! I've been watching you guys since the beginning and I really hope this IVF cycle is the one for you. I was going through a really hard time in my infertility journey when I found your IVF videos. I did two IVF cycles in Nov 17 and February 18. My doctor did not think we needed PGS testing due to our age and infertility diagnosis (MFI and endometriosis) so we decided to skip it and I wish we hadn't. I miscarried with both of my cycles. The first one we transferred one embryo and the second we transferred 2. All of them were the highest grade. The doctor has tested me for everything under the sun related to miscarriage and I've come back negative. We'll never know if it was the embryos or my body. If I could go back I would test my embryos. I also wanted you to know that I have some left over boxes of menopur. Let me know if it's part of your protocol and I'll send it to you. We are doing one last frozen transfer with our left over embryos and we will not be starting over with a new cycle if it's not successful. I'll be doing my transfer in November. The waiting is so hard. I am also trying to get my body "baby ready." I'll be praying for you guys!

How are you? Good to know that you are thinking of alternatives. It is a good thing that you are not losing hope. IVF is a good process. But sometimes it may cause complications. It may lead to failures of the cycles. These failures make the patient depressed. Surrogacy is the best alternative compared to IVF. Ukraine is the best place. Dear, Do you know? It’s a great opportunity waiting for us in August. The whole Biotex team is coming to the UK. They have their plans to meet people there. They wanted to spread the awareness. They want to tell people that it’s really good and all. I heard that they have limited seatings. You must try that. It would be great.

I'm praying for you guys. I have my miracle baby. 5 miscarriages I had a stillborn daughter in 2010 due to turners syndrome and it was beyond devastating.. I got pregnant again in 2013 and I again had the same thing that they saw flags in the 12 weeks blood test (I know it's controversial but I wanted to be prepared) after you have one loss your prepared to be sad again.. But I have a beautiful daughter who is my world.

I would highly suggest you read this article before making your decision about PGS testing: www.thecut.com/2017/09/ivf-abnormal-embryos-new-last-chance.html PGS testing only tests a tiny fraction of the cells in each embryo and it is possible that the abnormal cells could end up forming the placenta instead of the baby (and hence the baby would be healthy) or that the abnormal cells could even self-correct. The article mentions many studies where people have tried to implant abnormal PGS embryos and in all the cases mentioned a still decently high proportion of people have gotten pregnant and those pregnancies have resulted in perfectly healthy babies. This is another reason why my husband and I decided not to PGS test (besides the fact that we consider our embryos already our human children and wouldn't want to be the ones to make the decision to not try to continue their lives). Also, I would even add that embryos growing too slow or with high degrees of fragmentation have a chance at life that shouldn't be ignored. After having a first fertilization cycle where we had no embryos left to freeze on day 5/6 out of 9 that fertilized, we did another fertilization cycle from my leftover frozen eggs with a day 3 transfer. On day 3 we were beyond devastated (AGAIN!!!) to learn that there were only 3 out of 9 embryos still alive and those embryos were all 5 cells (supposed to be about 8) and all had about 50 percent fragmentation so they were all rated as "poor" embryos. We put in all 3 (instead of our intended 2), but we "knew" they were going to die and we were again so depressed and looking forward to the next month's plan. Well, low and behold one of those little 5-cell, poor quality embryos was still a fighter and apparently pushed all that fragmentation crap out of the way, because she is now our little miracle girl at 36 weeks gestation and looking healthy on all her ultrasounds!!! I know PGS could potentially save some time or heartache, but from what I've read it could also lead to discarding a potentially perfectly healthy child. Each couple has to make their own decision, but I wanted to make sure you at least read that article and maybe even considered stories like mine (not PGS related but still embryo quality related) before you made your final decision. I hope that helps.

Love you guys! So excited for this journey. Will the September date just be the start of stimulation and egg retrieval or transferring an embryo?Would you be doing fresh or frozen transfer this time? Can you tell us what will happen with all the adoption paperwork you did? Will it still be good to use at a later time? I have adopted myself and know the work involved in it, so just wondered. Are you in your new home? I would love a new home tour if you can. Sorry for all the questions, just have missed you guys. Maybe you and Alex will be pregnant together If they transfer this fall too! That would be amazing!

With male factor infertility the sperm most times have DNA Issues I understand your concerns about Pgs but I think in this case it is necessary. It’s more money and pain for her to keep going through transfers only to miscarry: sometimes you can have 10 embryos but only one is viable. We are not even talking about not giving a child with disabilities a chance no. Most if there is DNA fragmentation in your sperm the embryos could be severely affected and are not going to make it anyways.
@MeettheWheelers

This was our thought exactly. Miscarriages are HARD and if we can avoid that by doing PGS, then we will! And if we still end up miscarrying, then that was meant to be. Glad to have you along with us❤️
@marycn8960

Meet the Wheelers Yes miscarriages are hard on a women’s body. It can even be life threatening and lets not even talk about scarring in the uterus if she has to have them surgically removed. Take a look at gabe and babe tv channel. They have male factor infertility, they also had the same concerns with pgs and pgd but went ahead and did it and out of quite a few embryos only one was healthy and that was their baby girl.

Could you tell me about your experience so far with the Ovasitol? I’m on Metformin for my PCOS since May. I can get past the symptoms but it almost put me in the hospital when I got sick because it exacerbated my dehydration. I absolutely LOVE it! I loathe metformin. It’s nasty and it’s horrible for you. Ovasitol tastes like nothing, literally. Twice a day you dissolve a scoop into water or whatever drink. Just posting about this because I saw others recommending PGS. I did PGS and had two normal embryos implanted and didn’t get pregnant. It doesn’t always work and it was expensive. PGS only knows the number of chromosomes, and not every genetic marker. It is not fool proof. Yes, better chance, but not guaranteed. And sometimes an abnormal embryo could be normal. Anyway, don’t mean to talk about the downside so much, but wanted to share. So I am supportive of you both not doing PGS.

We had 9 embryos that made it to the blastocyst phase. We only had 1 that came back normal 2 came back inconclusive. If we did not do the PGD testing we would have transfer 8 embryos before we got to our 1 normal. We just started our transfer medication. We transfer later this month. Exciting and scary at the same time for the 1 that we have that is normal.

Meet the Wheelers took my second pill of metformin last night (I was told to take it before bed) I didn’t have any problems. If I start having issues like I was before I will for sure look into Ovasitol I’ve nothing but good things about it. My Dr said if I were to switch to something else it just get a bit more expensive. My insurance has been really good with all the Dr visits I’ve gone to since I’ve started TTC this time around. Now it’s just to get me to ovulate.
