So did I back in the day. It's definitely getting supported by us. I'm finishing off our UCM and Scourge Fleets and then we will be doing our first battle reports - fleet reports 🙂

Been looking for a good Naval type game for a long time and researching Drop Zone Fleet. Not a lot out there right now, but i did see TT Combat is saying there is a new edition or something big happening to Drop fleet this year.

I am excited to DFC on the channel. DFC & DZF are my favourite games. I am not sure how the new bases work, I use laser forge inserts for the old bases.

I love this game, very tactical, yet simple enough to go fast. My issue is finding people to play with and the quality of the miniatures seem to be behind the competition. I personally wish they could focus more on their plastics and partner with Warcradle to get ahold of their resin process.

Interesting you say this as they have recently announced a new edition of the game with plastic rework on a lot of models to up the quality. Can be challenging to find players for games Leo and I found our shared love of the game together

What should i add next to my fleets?

Consider either the big battlefleet box to bulk things out (these include 6 plastic cruiser sprues, 2 frigate sprues (for 8 in total), a battle cruiser and a small group of corvettes (for needling things out of atmosphere). This will give you a good stock of ships to build from. Alternatively for the smaller addition a single starter fleet box is also an option, this is 3 cruisers and 4 frigates for a much smaller price point. Initially I'd suggest getting to about 1k - 1250 and working with maybe a battleship or battle cruiser for your flag ship and then branching out from there (ships like destroyers are a good consideration as well as they're normally quite handy to have around) It's worth noting that at salute this year a new plastic sprue of light ships was being waved around for release later this year (IIRC) so if you don't fancy working with resin destroyers, corvettes, monitors and such will have a plastic option as a mixed box in future

My recommendation is to get some of the corvette class ships, so the Nickar class for scourge, Santiago class for UCM. Being able to threaten drop ships in atmosphere without having a penalty for shooting through orbital layers was a huge game changer!

@@TomsTabletopBunkerno worries pal, another recommendation, which is more of a quality of life upgrade, get some different coloured bracelet beads that’ll fit round the flight stems, it’ll make identifying which battle group your ships are in so much easier when you start adding more ships to the table

I don't think anything is going to be obsolete about how great the game is. Even better is a new box with hopefully a new race and even tighter rules. We've had a few gamers locally pick up the last of these sets to build their fleets up quickly
