This was heartwarming. The child that has you both as parents will be very fortunate indeed. Just a note to say, how can folks say that about North Koreans? Do they really feel they had a choice when the demarcation zone was created? Do they not think North Koreans were just as heartbroken as their southern counterparts? I just don't get that way of thinking. I found it shocking when I first realised that North Koreans faced such criticism and discrimination in South Korea. I had thought they'd be welcome with open arms as long lost family.

I’m not entirely sure if I’m saying this correctly, but I think it might be because they are a minority in South Korea, culturally different, and lack abundant initial resources. I hope people with different backgrounds, whether they’re gay or North Korean defectors, can get along well with each other.

@@mango.couple Please read BMJ Global Health Research re same sex couples raising children - “Family outcome disparities between sexual minority and heterosexual families: a systematic review and meta-analysis” - they find children raised by same sex couples not disadvantaged when considering several indicators of child development and actually do better than children raised by straight couples when considering other indicators of child development .. the only possible issues that might occur are those caused by societies prejudice ie there may be a lack of support systems provided by government councils and communities to single sex parents when it comes to child raising .. the road to having children for we same sex couples is long and difficult and often costly, so we have to think long and hard and often struggle to achieve our dream of having a family - our children are loved - I wish you every success and happiness - I think you guys would make wonderfully loving parents

He said it right. I as a parent of two made many sacrifices for my children because of my love for them and knowing two innocent lives depended on me for everything. Even after you teach them , nurture them, support them in whatever they need so they may grow and then when they spread their wings to live and follow their choices … you can watch them , support them , love them…a bitter sweet feeling…because you must let them make choices even if they are not always wise…you want to shelter them from all harm…forever, though it is not plausible….so he is wise with his words …children are not a temporary thing…a play thing…though some people call themselves parents they are not. Anyone just about can birth a child….but being a true parent , that is not easy and not as common as most people think….

Even if it is not common or 'normal' in South Korea, make 'having 2 dads' normal for your child. Look for children’s books on the topic. Buy cartoons containing gay parents from the US or Europe. Keep having the talk with your child again and again. And maybe you can visit the kindergarten where you can talk about love is love. And show pictures of your family doing nice things. 'Just like the kids with straight parents'. The kindergarten or school can maybe pick this up in their education plan. Maybe even invite parents to your home: 'we are not strange. we are 2 loving parents that want the best for our child'. I think with these kinds of initiatives you can influence the environment of your child. But I understand your worries and I applaud you two for wanting to make a difference. 😘😘

Sacrificing for someone you love is much easier than you think. I’m sure you do it for each other all the time without a thought. When the child is your own it’s not as exhausting as caring for someone else’s child. I have 2 girls and they are the best thing I have ever done! My life is much richer with them in it. Also, kids make fun of others for any reason. Providing a safe, loving home is the most important thing. You will make great parents!

Such a beautiful experience for the whole family, first is the importance of Kim and Pack related to being a parent and then inviting you as the first couple outside their families to share their baby and stories. This powerful moment is truly inspiring for so many of us, especially when he stepped away stating the baby was more attractive to Kim and Pack 😂. I especially enjoyed the way you shared your experiences about being different or being from a different place ( defecting from an hostile environment) . Those who have been marginalized and trying to change their lives and their beliefs being trampled on by others because of their own beliefs and fears. An important lesson learned here, however we in United States are being treated as such from a political party that wants us back in the closet.
