the scrolling text is quite hard to read, especially because youtube covers it with the progress bar and buttons. could you put it in non-moving text on screen, or put a copy in the description?

Hi Richard, Can you explain how you set up the finishing colony for the queen cells and the CO2 process? I still do not understand why the 2nd and some times a 3rd treatment. Thank you.

Hi Richard very interesting never seen that before. What is CO2 treatment, great video keep it up
@richardnoel31416 жыл бұрын
Jim McDougall hi Jim,C02 is the gas carbon dioxide. It anesthetises the queens and helps them in the process of maturation quicker after insémination.
@jcs63476 жыл бұрын
Richard, I knew the CO2 was to anesthetize the queens for the proceedure, but why give the treatment 2 or 3 times? Thanks!
@richardnoel31416 жыл бұрын
JC S Its said to help develop the ovaries and speed up the migration of sperm in to the spermatheca!

Wow.. Great video.. If the queen laying drone for first eggs after insenmination. Is that normal??
@richardnoel31415 жыл бұрын
generally no, she can lay a few but most of the time they don't start laying fertilised eggs if the start with drones. we squish her or we use her as a drone layer to produce more drones.
@khoirummuchlis9665 жыл бұрын
@@richardnoel3141 alright, maybe i was too often checking nuc everday.😅... and may caused queen failure after insemination, also the spermatheca looks cleary. Next time i ll try insemination 10 queens to see how many precentation of succesfull from here.

I suggest that you pin your excluder to the wall from the inside (so there it presents a flat wall). Two reasons: 1. When the virgin is ready to mate, she will come to the entrance and be accompanied by a number of workers who will accompany her out the hive. She can be crushed against the excluder or in a corner in all the excitement of preparing for a mating flight. 2. Although the excluder is more accessible if it's pinned on from the outside, it can also be knocked. If there is enough of a gap, the queen will get out and mate naturally before you have a chance to II her. A ventilated floor will help keep your MiniPlus cool but you can also give them another box The CO2 can be given 24 hours before, or after, insemination. There are arguments for and against both ways but I tend to do the initial treatment before so that I don't waste time inseminating a queen that may not respond as well to the initial treatment.

Nice video. I've bought an insemination kit this year and have had a go with it but next year will be when it gets more serious, I only bought the queens I want to breed from this summer so they are being tested and I won't have Drones for them until next year. The queen narcotising and insemination I found relatively easy it's the Drone semen collection that was hardest, somehow nearly every time I had one yeald up a good lot, it drooped over and touched my finger! Very annoying as it's then useless. I haven't been on a course, just watched many videos and read, I can't see the justification in spending hundreds of pounds for a couple of hours fine tuning the technique, I'm only a small scale hobby beekeeper and this is for a project with AMM queens. Hope it all goes well

Hi Richard! You've explained the second CO2 treatment several times in the replies. What do you do to determine if a third treatment is necessary?
@richardnoel31416 жыл бұрын
If she basically has not developed her abdomen. also the bees that are in the nuc change their manner and become more settled. its mostly timing. if its like 2 weeks and no sign of her laying you can try reinsemination but its pretty rare.

Hello Mr. Richard! I would like to know, how did you teach yourself to start inseminate bee queens instrumental ? Is there a chance for me to teach myself alone without any course just only equipment ? I'm from Bulgaria and we have 250 bee hives. Thanks and Regards!
@richardnoel31415 жыл бұрын
it is possible to learn yourself and there is detailed books on insemination process, however getting experience from someone who is running courses will give you a huge help and a lot less disappointment.

@@richardnoel3141 Nice. Is there any website where they are selling, all kinds ? Because I live in Bulgaria and we have 200+ bee hives and we are making queens, but not artificial insemination, it's just from the nature. The kinds here are Italian, Carnica, and Carpathian.

What's the purpose of the 2nd and 3rd Co2 treatment?
@richardnoel31415 жыл бұрын
helps the queen mature so she can progress to start laying fertilised eggs.
@KevinsNorthernExposure5 жыл бұрын
it's interesting, but it's not for me....I think I can find a colony that has the traits I want and then graft from that queen as my breeder queen....what's needed is drone stock from similar trait hives to breed with those new grafted virgins.

Why is it necessary to play obstruction music in the background of these videos these are educational videos when was the last time you attended a lecture and heard distracting music I would not do it and I’ve never seen or heard my professor do it The music adds nothing to the information and advice that is being given It may not be offensive to everyone but to me it is and since it is it is likely irritating to many
@richardnoel31416 жыл бұрын
Frank Tipper sorry it not acceptable to you, these are not be designed to be instructional videos, more as a reflection of how I operate and deal with my bees. These are more of a blog type video. Reflecting the mood. Sometimes a little music is good!

These bees are so cute. I hold such respect for those animals. Can't they mate by themselves? They go through so much because " MAN" is constantly destroying the earth. They deserve all the pleasure they can get 😍
@richardnoel31415 жыл бұрын
Mayra Sandoval thanks for your comments, yes these bees can live by themselves but here and in many other parts of the world bee breeding has become a vital part of producing better bees that are more calmer and disease resistant. We wish we could just let them do their thing but if so, bees turn very agressive and also not as prolific. They. Have to have good resistance to disease. There are so many other things in the world that are stacking up against our bees that breeding helps the general well being of these amazing creatures.
