Will you be doing videos about the boards exam? You studying for it or best prep material or just how it works in general?

hi yes! i talked about my study plan in my last video a little bit, but i plan to keep updating you guys in vlogs and making an entire dedicated after I pass the NPTE! I am using my scorebuilders book and the NPTE Final Frontier 11 week independent study bundle. its a 5 hour 250 questions exam!

Will you talk about how it works being a student in pelvic floor PT? You mentioned around the halfway mark of the video that a lot of people don't want you in the room during exams so can you explain what kind of conversations you have to have, what kind of reactions people have, and just how you go about being a student in a PT setting that is a bit more sensitive than maybe other ones? Are there different conditions or treatments that students don't really get to see a lot of because a lot of patients don't want them in the room? Is there anything in particular that you haven't been able to see or do because you haven't gotten a patient that would allow it? Do you miss out on a lot of stuff or do most people understand that you're a student so they don't mind? Also when you're in the room, do patients talk to you even if you're not the one leading the conversation or do they just ignore you? I didn't realize I had so many questions about how this worked until you said that

hi! so with pelvic PT, often you are dealing with very sensitive subjects such as cancer diagnoses or just personal topics of sexual function/bowel/bladder. it is hard to open up about these topics to a provider in general, so some patients do not feel comfortable with another person listening in. However with that being said, in my experience a lot of the patients recognize the lack of pelvic PT's in the field and have had immense success with pelvic PT, so they are excited that I as a student am wanting to go into the field and are willing to have me sit in, learn, and work with them. I wouldn't say the patient's decision for me to not be in the room is diagnosis-dependent, but more just based on personal comfort level if that makes sense. also- my instructor has known for awhile that I would be starting this week, so she has been telling her patients that she has a student coming on for the next 12 weeks and asking if they had any issue with me working with them/being in the room so that they think about it before their next appointment. when I am in the room, they are very friendly to me and we converse! my clinical instructor does a great job of including me in the sessions and teaching my what she is doing. once we have repeat/returning patients that I have already met and built relationships with, hopefully i will be able to jump in leading PT sessions because i know i am capable and have the knowledge to do so, but it is all about ensuring the patient feels comfortable. i hope this helps!!
