The real trick is finding a good way to buy low. If you're cracking packs and paying retail prices for them you're always gonna be in the red. I've been selling on TCG for a little over 10 years, but I mostly do it as a hobby now because I don't have a good buying channel right now :) I used to own a LGS, where we could buy them at a good rate from customers for store credit. I'd also recommend being careful about listing cheap cards, you can often lose money on shipping // shipping materials if you're selling stuff below a dollar or two.

What would you consider would be a good deal on a booster pack? $4-$5 per pack? I'm seeing some listings on some packs on TCG and am considering order from there rather than retail stores to save the $1. Selling on TCG is going to be a hobby business for me, I don't ever plan on owning a LGS... but I believe how easy it could be to source cards as a store owner! Would love to figure out a way to source cards with an online store from players in my area. Thanks for the tips and comment!

I always loved making them and my friend showing me how fun MTG is made me want to start buying and selling again!

You're forgetting two key things my guy, 1.) Change the cards after they scan to whatever set your pulling *foundations*. It changes the prince significantly, and not for the better most times. 2.) Change the cards that are holo to holo. If you list those cards now you have a false inventory.
@TNCards20 күн бұрын
You’re right! I totally forgot to change the set while scanning. Realized that while listing the cards and the price differences. I also don’t list directly using the TCGplayer app, I do it on the desktop. But good call on both of those! Just using the TCGplayer app to get an idea of the prices per card since I’m still new to MTG!

@@TNCards You also need to make sure it's set to use TCG Player "Low" and not the default "Market". If you sell on TCG Player, you won't easily sell cards unless you are the lowest price. You can certainly list cards higher than the lowest, but buyers will buy out the lowest until yours is the lowest left, which will take more time to move inventory.
@TNCards18 күн бұрын
That’s a good point, I’ll have to mess around with it… which should be easier for me to do since I have access to the mass price feature on TCGplayer. I want to get more cards in my inventory and maybe I’ll go on the low end of some of the higher value cards to move them.

Hey, brother. Glad to see you set out on this journey and wish you all the success. I’m a returning player to the game (haven’t played since 2003 and haven’t bought cards since 2013). I’m jumping back into it this year, and like you, have decided to start a small business dedicated to reselling and documenting that journey on KZbin as well. My approach is a bit different in terms of what I plan to cover, but just wanted to comment. I know you’re new to MTG, so if I could give you one tip I would say just be careful what set the TCG Player app pulls up when you scan the card. I noticed that some cards you scanned it would pull the card from a different set that wasn’t Foundations (this is because some cards get reprinted from past sets) and this can affect the price it shows you, as well if you are importing your data straight from the app to the TCG Player store, people will be looking for a card from a specific set and you don’t want to accidentally send them the wrong card. I have been playing a LOT of catch up, so if you have any questions or anything like that I’m always willing to help someone new to the Magic world with whatever knowledge I can. Feel free to reach out and good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I noticed that it was pulling from different sets after I was done recording. I don’t post directly to TCG using the app, so I would have caught it on the PC. But I was using the scanning feature to get a basic idea of pricing. I do need to figure out a better system though. Thanks for the feedback and good luck to you as well!

Is there any sales tax when you buy your packs at target? If yes how much? Where I live sales tax is 15.5% making it hard to make profit.
@TNCards18 күн бұрын
I’m in PA, so there’s a 6% tax. Can’t believe there’s a 15% tax where you’re at!

You should also be able to credit the sales tax against what you collect when you file out taxes on what you are selling.
@TNCards18 күн бұрын
@@jimr1601 I'll have to talk to my accountant on the best way to go about this. Right now, I'm planning on just listing all expenses/sales and seeing what numbers they want from me.

@@TNCards when you file your monthly/quarterly sales tax, there is a option for a credit. Unless you don’t have a resell license in PA/aren’t reporting sales tax. But if you are a sole prop/llc, you should have one. Source : from PA and we apply credits each month to our sales tax we collect from sales.
