I just want to add an additional reason to support local public libraries: There are so few public spaces where unhoused or otherwise vulnerable populations can go to access internet, read a book, take classes for things like citizenship, etc. Public libraries are an absolutely vital public resource. We need to support librarians, and we need to support public libraries! ❤ 📖

Thank you for speaking up about alcohol consumption and sleep. I am constantly ridiculed by my corporate coworkers who like to "party." I am a nondrinker, no smoking and overall have eaten a healthy diet my whole life, using sunscreen every day. For 60, I am always mistaken for no more than 40, no wrinkles or dark spots, low weight, healthy long hair.. Then when my coworkers question my youthful appearance, I say a clean healthy lifestyle. They go, no way, it's just that you were born with good genes.
@user-hx7mi7ml8u Жыл бұрын
Sounds like they’re taking their guilt out on you…since they do things that are unhealthy and won’t face or admit it, they pick on you, instead, to try to feel better about themselves. I’m the same, never was a drinker, or smoker, and at 56, have very smooth skin. My sister, who’s 3 years old than I, had a bad stent with alcoholism years ago, and her skin looks like she’s 67 instead of 59. People that abuse their health can’t seem to figure out that’s why they look haggard and older than they are. You might need to get blunt with them at some point, and tell them to “lay off!,” they can chose their lifestyle and you can chose yours!

I promise that things will get better for you Karlee. I have had sadness this year and have surprisingly overcome it. Please speak & listen to your doctor and/or counsellor who will be able to help you get to a place where you feel that you can move forward. There is no shame in taking prescribed medication; you may just need it to get you through this very difficult time. Stay away from negative/toxic people. Keep your energy to practise being "your own best friend". Self-care is not being selfish...it just makes you ready for the world. Have something to look forward to every day...such as Dr Dray's videos! Try to stay in a routine, find a physical activity you enjoy (I find swimming clears my mind). Embrace nature (eg. plant some flowers, pat a puppy), enjoy art, do some craft, watch your favourite comedy, listen to upbeat music etc. Also, stock up your refrigerator, pantry & fruit bowl with your favourite healthy foods. Have a happy 2023 Karlee! 👱♀️❤

Happy 2023 Dr Dray and everyone here! At my age (I'm 37), it really is just another day haha, and I've not specifically made 'New Year's resolutions' for many years already. That being said, this time I decided to use Jan 1 as the date for a few things for which I can keep track of- like changing my toothbrush (haha), my dish washing sponge, decluttering my wardrobe, closet, fridge....so by doing this hopefully I'll remember to swap/change my toothbrush and sponge by the start of April, make sure I tidy my fridge every month at least etc. Very lame, but I figured maybe even these tiny shifts might contribute to me leading a more organized life.

Agree with you about the irestore. I’ve had mine for about 7-8 months and I actually have noticed a difference, especially around my hairline and part. I’ve always had fine, thinner hair but I lost a lot of it after I had my kids (now 12 & 8), which is normal. But it never fully grew back and I continued to shed so I tried this. It’s not going to work miracles and give you hair that you never had before. And you do have to be consistent but I’m really satisfied with this device.

Libraries were my go to during college studies. I would study at home but when things got chaotic at home, I needed a new location. Sometimes I would go to public library and sometimes college libraries since they were opened long hours. When I needed change in scenery, I'd go to local parks or find quiet places all around college campus. Miss those days.

Hi Andrea! I do agree with you on peoples opinions. I’m Irish and a non-drinker and people are usually surprised by that. Alcohol does not interest me personally and I’ve seen the damage it can do to people. For 2023 I’m planning on taking sun protection more serious. I grew up in Ireland and it was never taught to us about the importance of sunscreen. We associated it with going on vacation to hotter, sunnier climates to get a good tan. My mother used to use baby oil or the lowest possible spf she could. I’m 45 and now live in Florida. I’ve been sporadic about sunscreen over the years. Like you’ve mentioned it’s forming a habit. I’ve started getting better about it as I spend a lot of time outdoors as I work with dogs. Watching your videos about its importance has been eye opening. When you’ve mentioned that you can use all the anti-aging products but if you’re not using sunscreen daily it won’t help much. Irish women usually put wrinkles and fine lines down to aging and stock up on all the expensive moisturizers but it is not in our “learned culture” to use sunscreen every day. I wish I had been better about it years ago. My skin is fairly decent, but still. Better late than never I guess! Happy 2023 to you and thank you so much for your great, informative videos!!

So that I don't procrastinate going to bed & waking up, I now look forward to listening to my "sleep" & "wake-up" music. A favourite "sleep" song is "Ulysses and the Sea" by French band Papooz. My usual"wake-up" song is "What is Life" by George Harrison. After my alarm, I listen to and watch the music video; the tune & lyrics are very uplifting which helps me start my day. The video was only made (relatively) recently. It was filmed outdoors and features two wonderful young ballet dancers & extraordinary modern dance choreography. The George Harrison Estate asked for submissions so that this song could finally have an official music video. This one (girl in yellow top & white skirt) was the winner! Btw, I have other songs on my KZbin "sleep" and "wake-up". and playlists, but regular ones seem to put me more into a routine. I also have invested in 1000 thread count cotton sheets, silk pillowcases and backsleeping firm pillow. At bedtime, after a shower and applying my skin care, I lay down, put on my LED face mask and put in my ear buds. Before I doze off, I remove the LED mask and ear buds...if I'm not already asleep! 👱♀️❤

I love these life chats! In 2023 that’s why I made the decision to move in silence. Sometimes your goals and changes don’t need to be broadcasted. Let the results speak for themselves. As for sleep, I stopped listening to the “grind all day” mentality. You need sleep for rest and better health. As I have gotten older, I do what I want and don’t really care about public opinion. Lol.

You are a wonder and a joy Andrea. I love libraries too. Walking in feels like being wrapped in all sorts of goodness. For fears about things going away, including libraries, my fear is about democracy in jeapardy in your country (we get your news - all kinds - like it's our own here). If democracy goes there, it's gone from the world. I know we need to "stay in our lanes" but democracy gone would affect all lanes, including health and information. Oh dear, but it won't, right? Fingers crossed for that and wishing everyone all good things in 2023.

2:44 On Clean Nails: The best way to clean nails is to use Ponds Cold Cream, put a tiny bit under each nail and wait one minute, let it do it's job. Then use a nail brush or toothbrush to gently remove the cold cream under running water. The underside of your nails will be clean like magic. *DO NOT* use hard physical instruments to dig under your nails. When you do, you ruin the *hyponychium* which is the skin under the top of the nail that connects to your finger. It is there for a reason-It is your barrier to stop germs and debris from getting trapped under your nail or entering your body, leave it alone so it can do it's job. Do not push it back, then your quick gets lower and your nail gets shorter. The quick of your nail needs to be as close to the top of your finger as possible in order to *protect* your nail. Nail Maintenance: use jojoba oil to rub onto your *proximal nail fold*, the skin at the base of your nail, as well as the skin around your nail. Let it soak in for 20 minutes. Add a repair moisturizer of your choice, then top with petrolatum. Do this every night and every morning after you're done with any hand/water activity.

My favorite Christmas present this year: a tote bag that says "Raised by libraries." So accurate for me. The Army moved us around every year or two, and the first thing I always did in a new town was get my library card. We had zero money, so it was a wonderful way to spend a childhood that didn't allow music or dance lessons. Reading literally expanded my horizons and let me explore different kinds of living. I'd never have gone to college & grad school if I hadn't been a big reader early on. Wish all kids enjoyed reading like that.📚📖

Happy new years and I love how u mentioned the shaming on new goals , my mother in law would always tell me I'm getting to skinny or my hair is to long u name it she would shame me for whatever I was doing like me being a vegetarian, I don't tell her how to eat why should she have an opinion on my beliefs and how I eat.

I'm reading Why We Sleep on my Libby App, so far I'm enjoying it, thanks for the rec Dr. ! I love the library! When I was a teen, I volunteered and worked my first job at my local library. Anyways, I highly recommend the Libby App that libraries now have if you can't physically get to your local library. Its like Kindle, but better app in my opinion---it's easier to use and free! I now read and listen to so many books electronically since the pandemic closures. Happy New Year!

Public libraries are a little scarce in Seoul and it is usually dominated by old men who come and snore. Starbucks serves as a public study room in Korea. I wish there would be more cozy public libraries in Korea as in the US.

Thanks for talking about libraries. I was actually talking to my sister today who said she still uses the library which I was surprised but come to think about it you are both right and I always used to enjoy going.

From the bottom of my heart - Thank you DR. DRAY for giving me great skin in 2022, and saving me from hair loss (AGA) with your iRestore recommendation! It was so scary in 2020 to see my hair disappear - then your videos on hair loss was such a game changer! You’re a gem - thank you. I’ve suffered socially(?) in college due to my severe alcohol allergy and now I’m so grateful for this blessing which was at first a curse. How much savings and skin health I gained because of not being able to drink a drop. On a different note: seeing this new product online called Depology micro dart patches for under eye circles - your thoughts would be appreciated! Blessings and health to you this 2023! 🎉

I’ve heard you mention sea buckthorn oil favorably. I bought some after hearing about Skinn Devine Elixer. It’s in the ingredients, but costs 50 dollars an ounce and I can’t afford it. I’d like more info about sea buckthorn oil from you please and how to use it. I watch your videos and enjoy your content. 👍😊

I hope you have a wonderful New year! I still use my Irestore as well and got it 2 years ago with your coupon code during that time. I got the Professional one and do think it helps reduce hair shedding. I'm one to always set goals for the new year. Financially, spiritually, physically, and mentally new goals to achieve better health. I agree on the sleep pattern. I've always been one to stay up late and since retiring I sleep later. I've been made fun of for that but for me it's the best way my body gets sleep so not willing to change it to fit another's pattern of sleep. Sleep is essential.
