I'm a big fan of those old 1970s and 1980s Yamahas. I own three of them. I find they are great guitars and are well-made. In my opinion, they sound a lot nicer and warmer tuned a full step down. That's how I tune the ones I own.

I bought one of these from a guy for $100 back in 2014. The case was a beater but the guitar was flawless. He had nerve problems in his hand and it sat in his closet since it was brand new, not being played. I soon found out it still had the original strings on it. I took the guitar and had it set up by a luthier friend of mine and played it until I was offered $450. I sold it with the intentions of replacing it but I've never found another one cheaper than $500. They are somewhat rare and a beautiful sounding guitar.

Caleb, thanks for the glimpse of the tapered feeler gauge. I didn’t know such a thing existed. Brilliant and simple. Mine arrived today, and now I’m going to spend a ridiculous amount of time measuring things while my decades-old feeler gauges collect dust.

Great stuff Caleb. I have a left handed 340, 1982 mine, it's also been kitted out with an LR Baggs Anthem. These are a fantastic Guitars i don't of any going wrong beyond a simple bit of maintainence, it's good to see it's just having a service and nothing major. A testament to their build quality.

Happy New Year from Wales Caleb. Good to see you starting out on your own. I had a Yamaha FG440 in the mid 80s. I traded it for an Ovation because it had an under saddle pickup. The worst decision I ever made. I still miss that guitar.

Great to see you up and running on your own Caleb. I've watched ALL of your videos on your channel and Jerry's. Can't wait to see your first commissioned build on here. "Mills Guitars" has a certain ring to it. Who knows, maybe in years to come a Mills Guitar will be as sought after as any of the current well known brands. All the best for 2022. Nice video Caleb. You can't go wrong with Yamaha! 👍 I still have my '80 FG331. New in 1980 $100 Can. It was a rental that I was able to buy out with my limited college funds. Everyone loves that guitar still today. Sounds great and easy to play. A really solid piece of kit to have survived 42 years of parties, campfires,. metal picks, travels, spills, and many grubby hands. LOL Done so many fret jobs it needs new frets. Compared to the 340, the plain-jane 331 has a smaller body, narrower neck, rosewood fb., no neck or headstock binding, 2 pc. back. Grab up any old FG series guitar. They have nice spruce tops. No ply.

Good luck to you Caleb, I know Jerry talked you a lot and everything will fall together for you if you just stick with it. I know for many years ago getting started in the heating and cooling business it takes a while to get all the tools that you need to make the job easier so just hang in there. The main thing is to do each job correct and take no shortcuts and Work will come to you. So good luck and good job on this particular guitar.
