Your floor tiles in the bathroom are in good shape. You can tile over the top of them without a problem. Removing the tile and the adhesive is such a big job and unnecessary. It will only raise the floor 1/2 " or so. Worth considering.

Next time you use the little round lights you could take little wire and hook them over the gutter above the summer kitchen where they will get more exposure? It really looks great! I think you're going to need a very long extension ladder too.

I think your wash stand is perfect where it is as you can put a mirror, if you put it in front of the window, it just won’t be practical! Your bathtub is at a perfect spot…also, you don’t want people able to see inside your bathroom when you are bathing! As for a bathroom with a view might be better on upper floors! Of course, your home, your choice, but think of the practicality and cost of things! Leaving the wash stand and tub at the same place will be less costly.

So many exciting projects Alla! I believe the law in Italy with renovations is that the shower room must have a window for ventilation, so you might have to check that first before planning. They told us that at our house. Also it must have a certain ceiling height but you'll work it all out for sure! The garden looks magical...just love it! 🤩🥰🤗🎇

Most home renovators know that if you can live with the layout of a bath/kitchen, it's best to leave it as is. Especially in an old stone bldg. Running new pipes to new areas of the room is a big waste of money. Money is best spent in the aesthetics or elsewhere. It's great to daydream, but it's good to be practical, too.

Alla, I love the idea of this specific mural in the bathroom, and I hope you can find the bathtub's claw feet under the tiles...Maybe you can also find a way to ventilate the back wall in the bathroom entrance and therefore put the shower there... Yes, the repositioning of the tub and the sink would be great (I hope you could do both, especially because there is a water pipe going to the radiator)...I cannot wait to hear about the chimney sweeping and the beginning of the new electric and water installations...🎄🛀🎄

Yes bath tub on that wall where the sink is and can you knock out the wall that separates the little area tucked behind the door so you can get light to that area for the shower, it would make sense

Do you think any of the walls in the bathroom are stone? If it used to be a cantina maybe some of them are. It would look really pretty to leave one stone feature wall. Glad you have someone else coming to look at the ceiling. Hopefully, they will appreciate the history of the house and have the knowledge to repair it.

You might consider that your neighbors will see you brush teeth and depending on where you position the bath, also see you in the bath. Just a thought.

Oh my goodness, the garden is looking magical! Beyond the third tier down where all the stick were and now gone, are further bushes (BlackBerry?) or overgrowth…..what do you do with that; is it sloping down steeply; do you thin out more bushes; do you create another sanctuary there? Love your idea of sink in front of the window! Could you angle a claw foot tub diagonally so there is room for a sink at the window space? (especially if you find there is more space behind the walls? What a fun way to design these unearthed spaces! I would be itching to find out what is behind the walls too, then you can make better decisions/layout plans!

I wish you would not have to carry the heavy tools back and forth. Can you not lock them in the storage cabinet? That way, you would always have everything you need in one place.

Oh dear another 20 trips to the dump site! Be aware that Helleborus can be rampent in a garden and is very hard to remove due to the very hard and dense roots. Could it be that the curve of the ceiling went further along and they put a false wall in to have a straight wall to fit the tub in?

You need to wear a mask. Some of the cement used and the tiles may have silica which could cause you silicosis (a chronic lung disease).

Removing the tile could be a mistake if they are flat you could have tiled over them as the old ones would have been a good base for the new tiles, now you will have to smooth the walls down in order to retile

Oh , I’m sure you can remove tiles without a bit of gouging. Don’t you actually realise that with the amount of renovation they have to do that a bit of gouging is the least of their concern, especially if different tiles are going to be replacing the old ones. Why so critical when you cannot possibly be any better. I’ve done a fair bit of reno on my house and it’s not for people who expect perfection at all times.

I would have kept the wall tiles but the floor,no. I'm wondering if Alla is over-renovating though I do like the exposing of the historic floor tiles and the ceiling. Scary but brave.

22:19 A "false wall"? Let me explain better, could it be a wall that acts as an insulating cavity with the external perimeter wall? Generally in that area (Lake Como) the walls are very damp in the old houses.
