I have orkan, it is one of my top 10 most played ships. It is fun but super occasional. Basically it trades everything for the Radar. DPM suck, concealment suck, torps suck, AA suck and so on.

i think hayate deserves a chance! i've been interested in it for a while, a shimakaze with a trb and better guns seems like a monster of a hybrid, but it's said to be disappointing and i've found very little video documentation on it.

Hayate's not great - it's a bit of a jack of all trade, but unlike most hybrids it can't reliably use that flexibility to outplay any given role. The improved gunfire and health means it can bully pure torpedo boats; but it's so cumbersome that it gets outspotted before it can reliably do that and will get walloped by any supporting boats. The TRB makes it circumstantially better than 12km Shima for torping; but the massive cooldown on both torps and RLB means that if you miss you're now worse than the Shima; if it's overkill, you're worse than the Shima; if it's a kill the Shima would've got under identical circumstances, you're worse than the Shima. The circumstances where you're better than a Shima are literally just "where the TRB lets you dev-strike someone who would've been able to survive an identical Shima strike, AND that person survives by a big enough margin not to just get finished off by your team anyway. Sacrificing the smoke for the TRB is a MASSIVE disadvantage, and it knobbles your ability to make good use of the improved gunfire, and leaves you vulnerable to gunboat DDs who'll simply have you for dinner, despite your health pool and gunpower. Plus all the other vulnerabilities that come with losing smoke as a disengage tool or utility. TBH Hayate should get TRB+Smokes.

The thing about Hayate, is that you're never at a great advantage, you aren't better at anything than everyone else. The guns, torps, stealth, aren't the best. But you're also never at a great disadvantage. Because whatever you're up against is probably inferior in one way or another.

I own Hayate, far from a "beast". But if you get to play around it's weaknesses, it's a dd like all else. But the guns are not that great. Moslty a Shima killer and lower tier dd's. Tier X dds are not a 1v1 preference for Hayate. But you can play around this :)

I think this new series is a great idea. It gives players the ability to find out how to play certain ships and try new builds that may or may not be optimal but this is a very interesting series that I'm personally excited for. PS I'm currently grinding to Hindenburg and I got to Yorck so that is a ship I would like to see in a future vid.

Erik, I too had that problem but have been getting better. Stay next to islands as much as possible and in higher tiers, I give the BB''s full range (15km) and kite them bk and forth. Hope this helps out and the more you play, the better you get. You can only go up!

Like Omaha, she's an island camper. Get behind an island so you're undetected, and farm farm farm all day. If you can't do that, then you need to play super cautiously: Position on the opposite side of battleships to team-mates so they have to traverse their guns to aim at you - most BBs will take more than 15 seconds to traverse their guns, which gives you plenty of time to go undetected between salvoes. Ditto for shooting after they've fired so you're undetected before their reload is up. The line changes a lot when you get to the heavy cruisers. Yorck gives you a taste of open-water kiting but still gets walloped a lot. Hipper, Roon, and Hindenburg can booty-tank pretty comfortably in open water - and if you're at long ranges even the large calibre shells which could be a threat to you will struggle to actually hit you reliably. So you're free to farm damage all day and night and even take pressure off your tanky team-mates as the enemy whiff salvo after salvo all match.

Nurn worked well for me when I kited and dodged. Use islands to break line of sight but don’t hide behind islands. Nurn is more of a kiter with its gun layout. She can have a super good rudder shift which makes her good for dodging and kiting.

Pq. Please consider to make a series bases on strategy and ways of making decisions that players can and should make compared to what not to do.. Thereis alot of ship reciews but as everyone is complaining about player base gameplay, i think that a series based on bettering our gameplay standard would be beneficial.

I second this notion. WoWs can be a fun game but there are NO tutorials and NOTHING in game to improve player decision-making. You essentially learn by dying if one chooses to learn from those moments.

I would love to see a video on the radar Edinburgh. Personally, I have absolutely no clue how to play it but the pros make using it look easy. I feel like this type of video can help us learn how to play such cruisers, especially ones with an easier to hit citadel, without any smokescreens

I would like to see mogami with the the 155 mm guns, currently have it and I have a love-hate relationship with her because of the marshmellow armor. I still enjoy her. The way I play her and enjoy the most is ambushing dds from behind islands I manage to get to with my conceal (especially on maps with bigger islands). I'd say the reload, number of shells, dispersion on said shells, amazing shell velocity, and conceal make her a great ship for dd hunting at tier 8 aside from radar cruisers that have the ability to push in; I fail to remember any. I would like to see how you play her and what you think the optimal way to play is. Thank you for the great and enjoyable content as always PQ.

@Jeroen Sentjens The thread " IFHE All Night Long " on the official forums covered the whole thing when the rework happened. A few ships with weird quirks have come along since that thread was made; but Mogami is still pretty much the biggest "winner" of the IFHE rework on her 155mms.

glad to hear this. most CCs (IMO) only play top tier or highlight the new premium of the week. I think CCs playing all tiers helps the newer players to better get a grasp on the game early on. Only showcasing tier 10, Super ships, or Premiums doesn't help the game overall.

The one thing I like to run now on my Conqukek is a furious build with no fire prevention and the improved reüair party reaction (or whatever the name was) skill. I just evade Ap to get my heals to reload faster and let most fires burn. I can straight up ignore 4 fires in her due to the absurd heal and have 20% faster reload. This quickly become so dumb and I love every single bit of it :D

Scharnhorst with a secondary build (or your choice of build). I know you do secondary builds on higher tier ships, but the small main guns make this one play a lot differently. Would love to see your take on it!

Secondary built Kremlin, it has *slightly* improved secondary accuracy and a decent fire chance if I remember correctly. With Kremlins tanky armor, accurate guns at close range, and quick turret traverse it might work

I'd love to see a Monarch game where it's not just back line HE spam because the dispersion really doesn't allow for that, a game where the concealment, AP, and ability to sustain is used (works decently well in ranked). I think it's given a bad rap, and while its not amazing, I'd love to see a topline BB player maximize its potential

It suffers from the same problem as Roma / Littorio - and to a lesser extent Bismarck / Tirpitz: ~380mm guns struggle against most stuff higher than T7. You're very reliant on positioning with those guns, and your team-mates are pretty much always going to sabotage positioning to prevent you making use of the AP. Like Roma, its good concealment is also very much negated if there's a CV in the game, which will spot you accidentally from miles away. On the plus side, there's a load more 25mm bows entering the game these days (German battlecruisers, French large cruiser line, etc, etc) which has given these guns a bit of a renaissance. Roma's terrible accuracy and penchant for overpenning is still an issue though; either better accuracy or some workable HE damage so that DDs can't just totally ignore your guns would be nice.

@@Hydra360ci I've reground the brit BB line a few times. Monarch's not great, for the reasons I outlined; but its flaws are only egregious when the ship is being misplayed. If you play it properly, and if your team-mates don't sabotage you, it's just a bit frustrating and a bit "meh". It's not like it's unworkable.

@@Hydra360ci Oh, don't get me wrong, the ship is subpar and disappointing and frustrating. And a big outlier from the HE farming gimmick of the T7+ tech tree. But if you get the chance to abuse its stealth, and team-mates don't make your guns useless by baiting the enemy into angling against your 380mms, then all of a sudden it's dev-strikes galore against cruisers and big wallops against a lot of battleships. Your concealment means you can refridgerate comfortably if anyone tries to HE spam you, and ultimately you're still a T8 battleship that can overmatch the noses of lower tier ships if they try to get saucey and push into your detection radius.

I like the idea of forced situations. Like taking a non gun boat destroyer and forcing it to gun boat. While not going to show the ideal gameplay of these ships, it could really highlight a hidden gem that shine in adversity of gameplay. I don't play the game so I have zero idea what could fall into this category, but I find the idea intriguing.

I want you to play budyonny , the tier 6 soviet techline cruiser , Its a very good ship for the tier 6 , pretty good armor and good guns and decent consumables , you will have a great experience with it (Trust me) while i was grinding the Petropavlovsk i started from Budyonny and had a great experience. it was my favourite from the line.

I would love a Vanguard video; she's seemingly so unique when you think she isn't. Her godlike mobility and nice concealment suggests you kind of play centre of the map, there you can essentially broadside enemies on the maps flanks if they don't pay attention. She recently got added to AL too 😅

Yes. I like playing my Vanguard. Dispite having only 8 guns they feel quite consistent and I actually use more AP with her than HE. Together with having the fast reloading heals and 5 of them and the mobility allows you to do really good shit with her :D

Lightning would be awesome. I just unlocked her and would be interested in the strength of this ship and how to play it. Funny enuogh my captain has 14 points. I use Preventive Maintenance/ Last Stand/ Survivability Expert/ Concealment/ Radio Location.

Lightning's like one of the stealthiest boats in the game; and a good entry to the higher tier brit DDs in its ability to counter enemy DDs. Perma-spot enemy DDs from stealth while team-mates nuke them; gun down any poor torpedo boats you can isolate that have no support; use your hydro to avoid incoming torps if you think someone's gonna RPF blind torp you. Late game when you've countered enemy DD threat and are free to roam, you just rock up to whoever and torp them off the map from 5.9km away. If a CV or a radar is giving you grief, you need to play a bit smarter - bait stuff out, use your smoke to premptively avoid plane spotting, etc, etc; but you can always use your quick-cooldown smokes to get some gunfire off to light some fires and then be ready to resmoke and reapply when the fires wear out. Your build is absolutely fine: Adrenaline Rush would be a typcial next upgrade choice.

@@Ace42x Thanks for this detailed explaination!! Didn't expect that. I am pretty new to the game so it's pretty difficult to perma spot these DD'S. I always mess it up by comming to close to them (>5,5km) and get spotted or suddenly some has this Radar stuff and lights me up this way. I must learn which ships have the capability for this. Right now i mostly try to take caps and spot people with the hope that someone will shot them. Feels a bit useless sometimes because i am not sure what to do besides that. Shooting ships mostly ends in desaster for me. But i guess the feeling for what to do in a given situation comes over time. Thx again

@@TheSanco26 Weird, my reply to this disappeared. So: It's impossible for new players to memorise all the quirks of every ship they might come against overnight. There's customisable side-panel mods that will tell you the radar / hydro / torp / detection ranges of all the ships in your match. Available both from wargaming's official mod station, and from aslain's modpack. PQ's using an example of customisable side panels in the video above. As for what you should be doing. First priority is countering enemy DDs. Taking them out of the game wins matches by denying the enemy cap control, vision, and torpedo area denial. Second priority is taking the caps where applicable - it's free victory points and forces the enemy team into bad situations if they want to recapture them. Third priority is maintaining vision - island campers are very vulnerable if they're perma-spotted; if you keep a battleship perma-spotted while he tries to sneak away, your team can light perma fires while his DCP / repair parties are on cooldown, etc, etc; keep the enemy CV spotted long enough, and some battleship's going to take the opportunity to wallop him sooner or later. Fourth priority is just killing the enemy. With hybrid DDs that's positioning just off their broadsides and torping them into oblivion from just outside your detection radius - with brit DDs, you can single-file torpedo their bows for much the same effect as they try to push into your team-mates. Gunboat DDs will want to start fires, obviously - often from smoke, sometimes from behind islands. Fast gunboats will be doing it by kiting at extreme range. Obviously you don't want to blind yourself and your team if you're the only one spotting your victim(s). Hybrids can also use their guns in the same way while torps are on cooldown - but don't want to be telegraphing their position (and alerting the enemy to the risk of your torpedos) in the same way that gunboats do.

I PQ, I would higly recommand the yukikaze for a video. it's a Kagero with F3 torps. weirdly usable, a lot of fun agaisnt same tier and quasi-OP in low tiers matches, thought you sometimes have to accept you won't do any damage if there's a CV in the game.

I don’t think you should limit the points on the captain builds, especially for meme builds. We can all experience a 10 point captain Kongo, but it would be interesting to see what a 22 point captain can do.

A video on how to read the mini-map would be nice. Also how to read the mini-map to stay undetected, especially in a DD, Crusier, etc.

Turn your detection circle on in the minimap. Also memorize your ships detection radius. It also helps to try and memorize every ships detection/radar/Hydro range, so you know what kind of cushion/distance you have before you or they are spotted. I'm not sure how else to explain it, the map gives you locations of ships if they're spotted or their last known location. Alot of the game involves anticipating what they could do, and what your team is doing around you. There's not much else to it. The game provides you all the necessary information, but you have to be able to remember that information and use it. I'm far from PQ's skill level but if I can memorize this information, then it can't be that hard.

I think the captain point limit should only apply to the tech tree ships, maybe I'm wrong but I feel like most people playing lower tier premiums probably have at least a 12-14 point captain to throw on the ship. I just feel like it might make the premiums a bit more interesting because the builds can be a bit more diverse, while the tech tree ships should be more representative of the average experience while grinding through that ship.

Okay. *inhales* Dear PQ: Triple Venezia division, stealth / smoke build, played like a herd of Palo Emilios and use each Venezia's smoke (and spotter) in timed sequence to caterpillar across the map / large open distance (while holding fire to remain unspotted and get as close as possible) right up into the face of a CV (dew it) or BB, and RUSH EM. The division players would have to be really good with maneuvering and smoke timing and resisting the urge to shoot prematurely and you maaaay have to get a bit lucky with no radar ship being nearby, but hey, if Flambass could do it, I know PQ definitely could! Alternatively, you could do something similar with herd of Palo Emilios, it'd be like a school of Phirans, but you wouldn't have the spotter plane on Venezia to spot. PQ, if you want to make it a little difficult you could also make it AP ONLY Venezia ;) Edit: I haven't been on wows much recently and I'm not sure how this one would work, but you could also try something similar with triple Attilio Regolo.

The T8 Alaska? What's the problem with it? It's still got the improved pen angles on the AP, the large alpha and calibre, and decent HE weight. It's probably the tankiest T8 cruiser in the game off the top of my head - maybe even tankier than Odin, a T8 battleship?

@@Ace42x I do struggle to hit decent salvos with it. It often feels like the dispersion is messing with me.

@@silwarhd I've barely touched mine, because I can just play Alaska - but IIRC the dispersion's the same? Losing a couple of shells per salvo thanks to the lower barrel count will be a factor - but is it possible you're just playing too far away? It's a particularly tanky cruiser, with a solid duration radar - trying to snipe with it is going to be lacklustre compared to the true sniper-cruiser boats.

I would really like to see alternative (unoptimal but fun) builds like the torpedo sherman you mentioned. Legendary mod kleber or building some low tier bb for secondaries etc. Edit: pls dont limit skillpoints, if i want realistic i just play them myself. And please do gunboat siliwangi

Im not a good player at 47 % win lose ratio...but i did not realy pay attension to it until flamu spoke about it and then i realised i can better myself instead of just having fun and pushing always.. So ive started observing choices and not pushing until i know enemy team positioning and now my aneplay totaly started changing.. There is a lot of opinions against players but theres so many different types of players...some are competative and others like to just run and gun..then thete are thise who has not yet upgraded their ships to levels of max capacity.. So instead of shaming these people about their abilities lets make a series that motivate and encourage us all to be more strategic and play to bettet ourselves with wisdom from the more advanc3d players.
