This is just wonderful! I will say that I found over the years that if I have too much stuff, I get anxious. The more things I have the more anxiety I have, because you have to store it, dust it, etc. If I see something I'm not wearing or using and there is no deep sentimental value, I've gotten to the point where I donate it because it just feels good to have less to worry about. Simple life is less stressful for me. I really love this podcast, Malukah. You have wonderful cadence and tone to your speaking voice. I was wondering what else aside from that made this feel so relaxing and chill. Then I realized it's the music. Great background music. It doesn't intrude or distract but adds a great ambience. I understand where you are coming from on a lot of things: My life was turned upsidedown this past year. I was not lucky and got the virus and have been very ill ever since. Basic things are difficult. Among not being able to do regular tasks, I can no longer sing. So I haven't been listening to music--which has always been a release and therapeutic for me--because I can't belt or sing along. After you talking about it, I think I need to get back into listening to music more regardless. Great podcast. I can't wait for the next one!

I'm a bit on the autistic spectrum and used to hoard all sorts of toys like collectible trading cards, pogs, dice, cds, books, tarot cards etc. After worrying about the weight in my room and the stress it causes on the house, I started a purge over the last year and chucked out a load of things. The feeling of decluttering is so satisfying in its own way. It's made me realise what I really value.

I think when the "safety" of having backups of things starts being more stressful than reassuring, it's a good time to declutter for sure. I hope I can follow in your footsteps!!!

I love to go on what I call trips through KZbin. I play a track I know, but then make myself play tracks I don't know for the side pane list. I have discovered so many artists I was not aware of before doing this. It's a great way to spend an hour or two relaxing. 👍❤️

I play a tabletop game called Warhammer 40K where you buy the models for your army, assemble and paint them ourselves. So you can make your own unique models and color schemes which is lots of fun. So what I end up doing is buying models for that one piece (it's usually a weapon like a sword or such) that i "MIGHT" use in a future project. My pile is full of these models that I might use in the future, I also don't sell things like really bad games. I just put them to one side and they never see the light of day again.

I really appreciate that you make this new podcast. It's a pleasure to listen you you, sharing these info. Looking forward to your cover version of "Parting Glass" . Glad to hear about Thor. BTW, I remember your room from your Twitch streams ;) It wasn't that bad... Oh yes, I do hoard *Fantasy and Science Fiction books* already have more than 6000 books.. Fun Fact: In the game "Baldur's Gate 3", that I play with 3 friends, I am a wizard, and I loot each and every book and scroll that I can find, during our adventures... Must be a big flaw of me

I hoard mugs.. I know they don't expire, but I do! Whenever I feel in a rut, whenever I feel bad, whenever I just feel like I don't want to go anywhere, do anything, I drink so much tea.. And I like having different mugs, colourful and interesting designs to look at. I live by myself and I have almost 20 mugs in one small cupboards! It's too many, but I can't bare to get rid of any of them

It's wonderful that you were able to rediscover the power of music in and of itself! Music for me, has always been powerful and transformative. My partner, for example, ENJOYS music, but doesn't feel as deeply about it as I do. Music can make me cry, or laugh or anything in between. I can definitely see how you could focus so much on the technical aspects, so I'm so glad you were able to regain that feeling...

After I started my current job almost 4 years ago, I've ordered a lot of electronics online and I've kept most of the boxes due to the possibility that I might need to send the stuff back if it breaks before the warranty ends. Thing is, I'm not even sure anymore which of those pieces would still have a warranty. But hey, at least the cat that happened to join us recently will have a lot of occupation options.

When I feel I need to branch out and find new music, it's nice to find rabbit-holes to go down. I think I first used Pandora, and then tried the other, similar streaming services. I think the best place I found was KZbin, but I haven't tried recently; the algorithm may get in the way these days, returning to things you've known and liked already. I'd find something new and let autoplay take me on a tour. I haven't watched TV or listened to the radio since grade school, So I usually would come away with something new and wonderful. Aurora, Kalandra, Blackmill, Trifonic, Glass Animals, Woodkid, Peter Gundry, Blackbriar, Azam Ali, Buckethead, Crystal Castles(Alice Glass), Leo Moracchioli(awesome metal covers), Rising Appalachia.... So many awesome bits of existence that make mine just as awesome, and so many more than I could mention. Well, I will mention Malukah, but I have a feeling you're familiar with that one lol. As far as branching out goes, just chase the rabbit.

Yay second episode! Thank you so much for choosing to share more of your thoughts with us. Looking forward to more. [Edit] Okay, I am done listening. I don't speak for all asians but it is sadly quite common here to hoard a bunch of stuff, like plastic containers for example. Time and time again I have made efforts to minimize the piles of tupperwares here only to be reprimanded so I've given up (for now). By extension, I also have a habit of "hoarding" things which keeps my desk a constant mess so thank you for this because it reminds me it's time to clean!!

To be honest...I had the same reaction with music when I heard your Dragonborn cover. I just saw the thumbnail thinking..Nice let's give it a try..even though I wasn't much of a fan of Skyrim that time... and from that day I still hum it and sometimes listen to it just to get the feeling I had the day when I stumbled upon it..as for hoarding- books..alot of books (especially language textbooks) and notebooks and pencils ..because they ignite ("I will reignite..ha ha haaa ha ha...emm anyways) this sort of spark in me..they look all colorful and different and interesting..and it gives me a sort of inspiration like..now I am better and will do things better etc

Oh yes. I tend to horde things for my hobbies or toys/things that remind me of my childhood. I think knit stems from not having a lot of money growing up and now that I can afford my “toys” I tend to collect them so they won’t run away lol.

I never hoarded anything, I'm the opposite kind of personality. I like to only buy and keep the bare minimum and keep it neatly ordered in cupboards and drawers. I don't think I throw even 5% of the food I purchase because I want it fresh and only buy as much as I eat.

The thing about new music is so true. I always go with artists I already know, especially the ones I've been listening since I was a teen. I've trying to change that lately, but it's hard 'cause the stuff spotify suggests aren't exactly my thing. About hoarding, I'm the exact opposite. I just get one set of rechargeable batteries and use them until they go bad, I don't buy socks until mine are covered with holes. Maybe I should be just a bit more like you xD
