I work for the guys who made that unit. It's a 180kVA unit, and as noted, its use is to keep that APU off and supply 115/200V 3 Phase 400hz power to aircraft. That unit will power up just about every aircraft ever made that uses 400hz, it's the QSL9 Tier 3 Cummins engine in it.

What is it used for? To recharge or power the plane while it's on the ground? I'm nosy lol more info

+Shiny Knife Yes those are the uses. It costs a bit over $1000.00 for me to use the plane's APU (auxiliary power unit) which is a jet engine powered unit in the tail of the plane. This GPU (ground power unit) only costs $150.00 per hour to use. Whenever possible I will use the GPU to save wear and tear on the APU.

@@BigIronTV Try looking into Tesla's Turbo Starts. Only GPU i've ever seen be pulled out of an aircraft by one person and just hook up the aviation cables that come with the unit and under 30secons start right up and then wheel it back in the aircraft and fly away with it. I've also been told they have units to power the entire systems and condition the cells too crazy..... it might be expansive though lol

I work for the place that makes the GCM (generator control module), you can see the blue,yellow,red,green buttons and the LCD screen on the top left of the electrical panel.
