This is probably the best way to make the control cavity that I’ve seen on KZbin. Thanks for sharing.

Cavity covers are alway a pain, but the way you have shown will improve my own technique 😎

Hi Mr Frontranger, I can only agree. I struggled with them myself on the first few builds until I bought a set of copy rings and gave my templates some thought. Good luck and have fun trying this technique.

Great tip about the router table. I honestly never considered sharp edges being an issue and this explains it very well. amazing content as always and I really appreciate you sharing your template making technique. I've already ordered a set of guide bushing/copy rings for my router. Thanks again. truly inspiring and always helpful content to us amateur luthiers. Well done!

Hi Royce, Thank you very much for the compliments. I think the rough edges left by the (band)saw can cause issues if you're unlucky. The trick, in my opinion, is to minimize the chances for the bit too bite into something by keeping the cutting/contact surface as small as possible. I know you're going to enjoy your copy rings a lot they're so useful for guitar making.

@@UnquendorGuitars Makes perfect sense. the few times I've had router tear out it was around a sharp corner that i knew the risks anyways. it just never dawned on me that the bit was catching because of the edge and not necessarily just grain direction. either way i will be smoothing out the saw marks next time I use the router.

Hey William, Thank you very much. For some parts I tend to overthink everything while on in some areas I just wing it. I think parts that aren't easily fixed when done wrong need that kind of attention and preparation while it is fun to be creative on other parts where you can afford to be.

why does it have to be 30 mm from the edge? what's the minimum wall thickness allowed from the side? I need more space and I'd like to go up to 15 mm. thank you :-)

Hi there. Very nice content and beautiful work. Perhaps some parts where you do the actual work could be at normal speed, routing for instance, for me it is very interesting :)

Daniel you might want to make a boom arm for overhead dust collection hose,like festool has.I made mine from 2” pvc pipe and a door hinge
@UnquendorGuitars
@UnquendorGuitars 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Edad, Thank you for the suggestion. I have been thinking about that, but the roof of the shed is slanted making it impossible for an arm to rotate much without adding a complex hinging system. And there is all kind of stuff in the way like light fixtures, air filter, you name it. I wanted to make something similar to mount my camera on to be able to make overhead shots and to get rid of a massive tripod. But ran into the same issues unfortunately.

I watch a dozen build videos a week. And I'll eventually get around to mine. I learn at least something from most of them. I've learned a ton from yours! Well done, sir. Well done.

And one item - most builders just carve out an electronics cavity and struggle to fit a plate to it. Making a template for both is FAR better - and it's something I thought of myself, but VERY happy to see a true professional justify my thoughts. And yet again, I learned a better way to do it than I had thought of.

Hi Scott, I used to have the same struggle to be honest. But then I started doing an inlayed top in the bodies for the Nessa models and came up with this solution to do those and I realized the same principle could be applied to the control cavity as well. I'm glad to learn my videos are helping you on your projects.
