Got a tip for you, Walk on the same side of the road as the vehicles coming towards you. That way you can see what may hit you if they get too close and take avoiding action. 👍.

Hello again, I first did this way back in 1975 as part of my plan to get fit ready to Join the UK Army, so lets see how much I can remember about my Pennine Way. I started at 8am after a restfull nights sleep in my tent nearby. I follow the Original Route along the Stream by the Pub to its start at a spring near Kinder Downfall, then hiked over the hill to Kinder Downfall for my first Coffee Break before continuing to Torside Resevoir for my first overnight Camp. Tony in Essex a retired Hiker.

The Granite slabs were flown in by helicopter dropping them off at lots of locations along the Pennine Way, not just in your current area but all along the needed sections. As for the WW2 Aircraft crash site I believe it was along the route as its mentioned in the PW Guide Book.

Absolutely loved this video and will follow the rest of your journey. Good luck! Subscribed. Boss lady!

Slabs were delivered by helicopter in late 1990s and early 2000s. When we walked the PW in 1986 and 1987, there were no slabs - just peat bogs.

@@carriehikes Hii!! Thank you for subscribing. Pennine Way was pretty epic. I just finished it and JUST TODAY arrived back home in Texas. The short daylight was the biggest challenge to me since I hiked it in November. And I was the only thru-hiker.

We used to do the first part of this many times as kids with 2 bull terriers and my mum and dad as we were born in Derbyshire. Glad to see you are back enjoying the delights of the UK take care and have fun. Will watch your progress but I suspect it will get worse the further north you travel. You must be mad doing it in October/November !

Crash-site flashlight sounds an indie band tune 😁 I think you definitely made the right choice carrying on with the daylight hours fading (btw it's pronounced Crowden😉). Your tenacity is inspiring taking on the PW in late October - prepare yourself for some serious bog trotting at some point. Keep on keeping on! ✊

I walked this exact route just last Friday (18th Oct) but I went left at the reservoir to Hadfield (for the train) instead of right to Crowden. So cool you're back to do the Pennine Way, hope it treats you well, love the videos :)

Grouse butts will be all over the map; they're just a small round roofless stone structure set into the ground in rows for grouse shooting. Looking forward to watching you do the rest of the route, always interesting to see what people who've probs hiked in other parts of the world make of it. Edit, just seen you've done the Cape Wrath trail so are more than prepared for our "mild" weather that includes 50mph wind, horizontal rain and perpetual bog 😂

Boy, youre very quick at uploading your daily vids! So fun to see them. I also appreciate you telling us details such as steps getting to the trailhead itself & eating stops, etc. I take it you usually baggage- check your trekking poles, tent stakes/poles & other pokey things TSA frowns on? Do they have an issue with your ultralight trekking umbrella for carry-on? Checking these things are a real irritation to me.
