Starting the T5 Swap and Cleaning Things Up

Part 1 of the C4 to T5 conversion. Doin some cleanup on the interior and underside of the car as well.

So I did the COVID T5 swap to my 65 Vert also through Modern Driveline(neighbor works for them) and I did the same thing! I FORGOT to drain the stupid C4 before pulling it, and guess what? A big mess also!! All said and done, I am very pleased with the swap and changed the rear gearing as well. It's super fun to drive!

Your car looks identical to my 65. Except mines a 6 cylinder about to get a 347/T5 transplant.

I also have a 65. Mines got a 302 in it already, had a 4 speed, just finishing up a T5 swap this weekend on it

Did I make a good buy on this C4 transmission? Guess we'll find out when I finally test it in my falcon.

It worked fine in mine and shifted normally. The torque converter alone was almost $300 plus the shift kit and updated valve body. It did start to get a slight leak when it got hot and someone said it was the front seal going bad, so I would put new seals in it at least. Your best bet would to be have it gone through because I don’t think it’s been rebuilt in 40 years.

2000 explorer v6 or v8 ? Did the driveshaft work?

I believe only v6 and any of the 2 wheel drive explorers. 90% had steel driveshafts and the rest had aluminum and they’re all the right length for 65-66 Mustangs. I never got around to changing the yoke over to the right one though so it’s still sitting in my shop unused.

Driveshaft from explorer fit? I have a 67 coupe. Need to prob get one too.

I never got around to changing the yoke to the proper one so I never used it, yet. It’s the same length as a stock 65-66 driveshaft but I’m not sure on the length of a 67.

How did you change the pedals from automatic to manual I’ve been trying to find out how people are swapping that out
