the "Where is Padme" line always concerns me because even though Anakin just got the suit on we always see Vader as this massive villain and after everything he will do and has done to that point, just to hear him be concerned is heartbreaking.
@PippPriss9 жыл бұрын
+MegaDrainProductions To me, that scene is the MOST powerful scene of all. Because in that particular moment, he lost EVERYTHING he was fighting and reasoning for. How much of a betrayal must it have felt for him, as he found out about Luke Skywalkers existence?

@MagnsATK988 жыл бұрын
MegaDrainProductions Yeah, but sith can be concerned. Jedi such as Anakin have been driven to the dark side in order to save loved ones or to seek revenge for their deaths. This is why it was forbidden for a jedi to fall in love. Vader's love for Padme was the only part of Anakin left in him. The "NOOO" is when Vader starts to reject his former self and is only driven by hate, especially against Obi-Wan. The moment when Anakin dies, this scene was meant to show the tragedy of Anakin. The emperor likely planned it, look at the way he smiles before Vader's "NOOO". He has now completely driven him to the dark side. From this moment on, he's the menacing Darth Vader we know.

This scene almost brings me to tears. Sidious destroyed Anakin and everything he had. The jedi order is destroyed, Padme is dead, his master is gone, his body is horribly scarred, his mother is also dead, pretty much everything he ever had and loved is gone. Darth Vader is a work of art in himself - a sad, broken man whose idealism and selflessness are smothered by cruel reality. My compliments to George Lucas for such a unique personality. When I was a child, learning about Darth Vader was one reason why I reconsidered the black and white perspective of my childhood. In addition to other experiences, Darth Vader was a lesson why life is complicated and why I should understand others' perspectives, not just my own. Anakin was just 9 in TPM, 19 in AOTC and 22 in ROTS. So, by the time we get to the events of both Rogue One and ANH, Anakin, at that point, Darth Vader of course, would be 39. When ANH was being filmed, David Prowse, the actor who originally played Darth Vader in physical form, was 39. So, there we have ir.

I'm glad people are finally coming around to this scene because it's actually pretty important. First of all, his love for Padme is the reason he did all this (also losing faith in the Jedi) so to not ask about her is ridiculous. Second it emphasizes the tragedy in all this. He's lost everything that mattered to him, his mother, being a Jedi, Obi-Wan, Padme, his lack of feeling towards other people and apathy towards his true identity as Anakin is complete. Yes, he became Darth Vader when Palpatine named him so but Anakin was also there. It's how Dooku was also Darth Tyannus. At this point there is no separation between the two. Anakin is truly gone and only Vader is left. Third, it emphasizes the Anakin-Luke-Padme connection. Both mother and son believe there is still good in him and the last thing Padme said to Anakin was that she loved him and wanted to be with him. Anakin would be truly dead if he allowed Palpatine to kill Padme's child with him.

George Lucas stated, if not for his injuries, *Anakin (as the Chosen One) would have eventually become twice as strong as the Emperor.* But without his limbs and due to the severity of his injuries: *he's only about 80% of the Emperor's strength,* and the intricacy of his life support system makes advanced techniques like Force Lightning potentially fatal to him. The novelization says he can still feel the Force: but his power is muted, like a composer gone deaf or an artist gone blind.

I love how the Emperor takes two steps back when Vader says "I couldn't have. She was alive, I felt it". Apparently Darth Sidious was kinda afraid of Vader's anger and what it could do (for instance, the short earthquake in the room induced by Vader's absolute anger)
@ExistUNDRGROUND8 жыл бұрын
Even though 80% of the prequel trilogy was bad, I think the way they tied everything together, the way the Emperor came into power, Anakin becoming Darth Vader was done very well. You can almost see the evolution into A New Hope. The Star Destroyers, the Clone Troopers, even the ship that took him to surgery. It all made for a good precursor to the original trilogy.

Don't forget the TIE Fighters.

100% of the prequel trilogy was building up to this, so your comment is contradicting. The entire prequel trilogy was about the rise of the empire and the fall of the Jedi.
@Whoami6918 жыл бұрын
+Matt Steelman It's only bad because cryhards forced Lucas to change his original script and cut out Jar JAr. They stopped the big reveal of Jar Jar being palpatines master. And no, I am not kidding. Just google it.

***** And yet, there is more evidence suggesting it is true than the simple excuse of 'bad writing' which is all the people who deny it say.

***** So debunk all the evidence without once saying 'it was bad writing' or 'He was made for kids'.

I feel sorry for Anakin :( And in this moment, he forgot about himself and there have been times of Vader, and only in last minutes of his life, he remembered that he was Anakin.

Something I like doing when watching Vader (movies, series, or comics) is to imagine anakin's expressions under the helmet, and what he would sound like without the suit. Pretty much everytimes he speaks, he'd actually sound like the faint "Help me Padme" right before the helmet is sealed.

Episode III was my favorite film because it was the first one I saw in the theater. 3:45, I thought to myself, The saga has gone full circle and the story has been told. But at 4:10, I knew it was only the beginning...what memories will tomorrow bring!!! The Force Awakens #StarWars

If you listen carefully, you hear Vader's voice shake when he asks a second time "is she alright?" Poor man. Whatever evil he's done, I can't not feel terrible for him.

All the pain he just went through and still first thing he did was tobask if his wife is alright. Palpatine is a special kind of evil to manipulate Vader the way he did. All of Anakins motives and actions were to save padme. Glad he found peace in the end.
@TheKeyser942 жыл бұрын
No totally, he was arrogant, he had lust for power and let not forget that he didn't give a fuck about democracy, to him, a supreme leader should take all the decisions, not matter how cruel or ruthless they were.

When Anakin said silently "Padme help me" before the mask went on was a nice touch!
@jessiedixon48899 жыл бұрын
This scene here, I could feel Anakin's pain from the mistakes he made, only to fall prey to a emperor who was his supposed "friend", for that "friend" to attempt to take his son's soul. Vader isn't just a villain, but when you think about, he's actually complicated in a lot of respects. If you look at his comic he has, you can see the conflict that he has even after his conversion

In theaters, the build up to Vader's first breath was spine tingling and awesome.

i love how genuinely relieved Sidious looks after he sees that Anakin is still alive. even though he is a sith, he honestly looked worried and cared for anakin. if it was a jedi, he wouldve been like, "hes dying, just leave him" such as the beginning space battle in the movie. Anakin wanted to help the other pilots. but Obi Wan told him no.
@blueshit1999 жыл бұрын
Well, Palpatine also told Anakin to leave Obi Wan on Grievous' ship, but I get your point. After all, it was Obi Wan who left Anakin to burn alive :(

The heartbeat that goes one throughout the entire procedue stops when the mask is finally put on, and it continues when he starts breathing. The Death of Anakin, The Birth of Darth Vader.
