I would like to see it outfitted with a rear mounted verticle stabilizer so...like the old well pumps, it would always be oriented in to the wind.

It's a perfect design for use in a river. It has the shape and blade angles to take advantage of any current and it wouldn't hurt fish. Just make it bigger and mount it semi-submerged on a barge.

Can you have a version where it has a tail and can rotate to face the direction of the wind? The wires can have carbon contacts inside the tube to account for the movement of the whole turbine.

The unit rotates into the wind, notice the unequal sides of the mount, more surface area on one side than the other.

Nice adaptation of VS's ideas to current needs. Removes the noise nuisance of urban installations. Unfortunately no footage with shadows, but looks like it will largely avoid the flickering light problems some people claim cause them problems with standard generators.
@ccastro03064 жыл бұрын
Thanks HandySam! The shadow oscillation problem has been eliminated due to the shorter blades. The concepts of VS were definitely our inspiration.

@@aphilipdent I was referring to the complaint some people have about standard 3 blade turbines in the environment causing flickering shadows which in theory can cause issues for people with certain conditions. Personally I suspect that although these are very real issues for a tiny minority of people, the chances of one of those people living close enough to a wind turbine are also tiny, and it's an issue that has been jumped on as a way of blocking developments people don't want for other perceived aesthetic reasons. Either way, a turbine with minimal shadow oscillations, and those in a very different frequency range would be hard to block with the same argument.

@@ccastro0306 Do you have efficiency numbers for the Starwind turbine now? Can you get more output with larger vanes on a smaller football, even if it causes a bit of noise? Make them all Matte black or sky blue to reduce any chance of flicker sickness from looking directly at the turbine in motion? You could do gray for units sold to the UK lol.

Is there a way to sign up for updates about this product and when it will become available? It’s not mentioned in the description box. Lastly, a better and more professionally done video would be great! The narrator on this one sounds like he’s reading and it ends abruptly. I wish you much success with this!

@briannugent55183 жыл бұрын
Power from a wind turbine of any design is 0.5 * C * p * a * v^3. C is coef of performance of design. A large utility horizontal axis 3 rotor types is ~40%, a vertical axis drag Darrieus types is 15% at best. lets be kind and say 40%. p is air density which at sea level is 1.23 kg/m^3 a is area of rotor, lets start with 1 sq m v is wind velocity in m/s but note that wind energy is proportional to the cube of v. you want 2,000W so v = cube root of (2000 / (0.5 * 0.4 * 1.23 * 1)) = 20.1m/s i.e. 45mph 45mph is very untypical at ground level so you need to increase the rotor area dramatically. Every time you half the wind speed, the power reduces to 1/8 so increase your rotor area by 8 to get back to 2000W power. So to still get 2000W, a 22mph wind needs a 8 sqm rotor area, an 11mph wind needs a 64 sqm rotor area, and a 5.5mph wind needs a 512 sqm rotor area,

A tear drop does not create equal pressure and equal wind speed. Most wind turbines their blades blades are roughly looking like a teardrop so shouldn't they be very efficient. In birds because of the center of the teardrop body it allows them to do very quick dives wick dives to catch their prey

Doesnt make any sense. They copied the tear drop body design of creatures that move through air or water with little resistance. But if you're making a wind turbine that's the opposite of what you want to do.
@ccastro03063 жыл бұрын
The wind impacts the blades and makes them spin, then it moves thru the length of the body. The smoother the body, the less turbulence.

*Nice toy. But: All practical tests of ground-based small wind turbines show: 1) They hardly produce any electricity. 2) They do not last long!* Hardly no electricity, due to hardly any wind close to the ground - and electricity yield is proportional to third power of wind speed: +100% wind generates +800% more electricity! Moreover, the wind close to ground is extremely gusty. 9 out of 10 small wind turbines therefore stop working after a short time! *With solar panels, you can generate at least 10 times more green electricity with the same investment! Reliable and almost maintenance-free for at least 25 years!*

Meaningless if it doesn't have a load on it. A pinwheel will rip in a strong wind but it wouldn't turn a generator.

The answer to wind turbines is that they are now unnecessary. We now have the ultimate and cheapest green power device with none of these problems, in the SAFIRE GENERATOR. This is what we need to negate all the problems of all competing green energies. It produces almost costless electricity and therefore hydrogen from new FUSION NUCLEAR and is now immediately upon us. We have recently taken a new step to advance the physic of medium temperature plasma fusion power production by enabling chemistry of the atomic nucleus, or "nuchemy" in the newest FUSION NUCLEAR POWER technology. We are passing the chemistry level where we interacted with the atomic electron shells and are moving on to manipulations in this "NUCHEMY" atomic nuclear era when we interact and multiply nuclear protons. We have rediscovered the lost work of the alchemists and can make new elements with different atomic weights. This was ably demonstrated in "THE SAFIRE PROJECT". Quanta are important. We now have enough energy to manipulate the atomic nucleus much more easily by creating a compartment, or what is a local region of plasma containment so reactions at this atomic nuclear level can easily take place. This is about to practically enabled a really fantastic and cheap new era of energy production for the whole of mankind. This with hydrogen, so free fuel obtained from water or atmospheric moisture anywhere in the world. This new fusion nuclear SAFIRE GENERATOR is at the industrial commercial production final development point as of now and it can retrofit older and decommissioned power plants. The energy argument and other power methodologies are all now virtually irrelevant as we have new and very physically and economically powered practical and local community level fusion nuclear power. Solar roof plus Teslawall battery may be the present way to go domestically but megapack batteries and multiple storage technologies interconnected with an expanded ugly grid have a less certain requirement when you consider new any-scale community based and 24 hr reliable and self-fueling fusion nuclear in the form of the "SAFIRE REACTOR". Learn all about it at "AUREON ENERGY.COM". Then learn the newer EU Theory and plasma physics at "THUNDERBOLTS PROJECT.COM" and you will be permanently reeducated with this advanced newer EU theory that will allow you to understand more about the astrophysics of our whole universe and all within and you will be more informed and can teach your peers.

That may all be true. But until BIG OIL decides to let it happen - it won't. All viable options to replace petroleum energy will be suppressed, as it has been basically since, well, forever. Our problem as a species is not a lack of ideas and innovation, it's our failure to see who is suppressing those ideas. Big banking families, big oil families, big media, big pharma, the list goes on, are who is keeping us enslaved to the gas pump and other things that provide their wealth. If anyone doesn't see this, well now you do. Or at least you know what the real problem is now and can pursue it if you wish.
