I'm so glad you covered the cage before you caught the cat because we had a cat rescue person tell us if we didn't when we caught our feral young cat, she would beat her head into the walls of the cage and really hurt herself. I believed her but still when we caught it the blanket wasn't over the cage and she went nuts trying to break the walls until the blanket was over it. I felt terrible...we did it to get this 5 lb. cat spayed (didn't know if it was a boy or girl) found out she was a girl and had already had a litter( we didn't believe them about the litter) until father's day when she presented her feral babies to Rich as a gift. One didn't survive and now they love to have Rich hold them and are so sweet ...and then a third really mangy cat showed up, I guess we're the only people in our neighborhood that will take these animals to get them neutered/spayed, and then there were three....we feel like we have a sign on our door that says leave your starvinng, freezing animals here....Since we have 2 big indoor dogs, we can't bring them inside, but we got a dog igloo, filled it with straw, bought an outdoor heated cat pad and even when it's below zero, they all fit in the igloo and their stomachs are nice and toasty. Of course their food and water is maybe 2 steps away from their igloo. Loved your collaboration..this one was such a cute idea.

I’m glad I covered the cage now too after hearing that! It was definitely having a fit when I picked the cage up. I call to check on it every night. I’m glad it is calming down a bit. I’m worried no one will adopt it being so wild, but my cousin will work with it all he can. If it is not adoptable he will keep it. They have a houseful of cats that no one will take-some have missing limbs, some attack your feet, some are blind etc. There are 4 of them that work with them so that helps. I’ll be helping with cat food, shots and a spay/neuter when it is time because I appreciate him taking it in. Sounds like your kitty has made herself a home and trusted you guys with her children. Getting them spayed/neutered is definitely key though. I’m glad they are safe with you all and will have a warm place for the winter. We have a new low cost clinic that has opened up a little over an hour away that will do the surgeries for $125 so that will be good. I’ll stick with my regular vet for mine, but that would have been nice to have when I was trying to spay/neuter some neighbors dogs in the past.
