Great review! Thanks for putting the knife through its paces. If I pay this much for a knife, you bet I'd use it like crazy.

My xm-18 3.5" with working finish was smooth and droppy out of the box.. maybe not, but within the first few flips it was smooth as butter. Just picked it up about two weeks ago DLT baby

It's an amazing knife. DLT had skinny micarta and titanium scales drop yesterday.

I solved the flipper over jumping by putting some superglue on the jumping a couple of thin coats,, it’s really not visible and much softer on the finger. Of course you must let it dry overnight or risk a flipper finger print removal.

Awesome test!! I had a similar variant. I got rid of it and kept my skinny harpoon tanto. I found I liked having the choil for multiple grips vs more cutting edge. Detent on both were strong, but mine broken in after about a few days of flipping. Great knife and well made.

I have a XM-18 3.5" bronze/ blue recurve. Great set-up. Can't justify the skinny cause ZT 0562 CF slicer works well with a similar handle thickness. Bought it first then the Hinderer. Same steel also, just keeps cutting! Good video as always.👍👋

Awesome video man! Best one I've seen on the skinny! Keep it up!!!

You would think for the price of that XM18 with the working finish Hinderer would put a temporary coating or polish the pivot so the bearings wouldn't have to break in that finish..
@Stassa233 жыл бұрын
Yeah not sure why it’s like that, I’m guessing it’s because it usually doesn’t take long till it’s worn a nice track

Good video, I shall look at doing something like this is the future, myself as it adds real value. The Hinderer XM Slippy DLT is one of my 'grail' knifes... but this puppy looks beautiful too - thanks for sharing brother 👍

Great video! I love the testing of the knives that you do. I'm jealous of your factory edge though. I got the same version of Hinderer and it had the worst factory edge I've ever experienced. My wife wanted me to cut some thin plastic packaging and even with her holding it tight I couldn't cut through it, it never would have been able to even slice paper. Once I put my own edge on it works great! I think it missed the final sharpening in the factory or something.
@CaffeineThrottle2 жыл бұрын
I had the same experience.The edge was a joke,it took me 1 hour to put a sic sharp edge on it.For what a Hinderer costs this is inexcusable.

I never saw someone testing a Hinderer! Everybody just talks and talks and talks about it! But it is meant to use! Thanks Nick!

Yeah I haven’t seen many use most of the knives that they review and the knives usually look brand new when they show them and I never understood how they could really review the knife other than as a fidget. I usually only watch the ones that use them but that’s just what I like

I’ve been thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these for a while, but OCD4EDC has me second guessing. Would you say the price to production value of hinderer knives is worth it? By that, I mean that a point OCD made was that at the same price other companies are doing more/better production work in regard to milling and the like.
@stevenlachance85763 жыл бұрын
Don’t know what stassa23 thinks, but I’d say only you can value a knife. I’ve got one of these and it rotates in as my hard work knife. I’d say you can always find better value. My big negative w this knife is a strong detent and aggressive flipper tab jumping. The landing zone takes some getting used to as well.
@optimuscrime6083 жыл бұрын
Trust me, the Gen 6 hinderers are on par with crk when it comes to tolerances. You can take it apart 1000 times and it will go back together with perfect centering ever single time. Try that with a Reate, or WE. 😂 Hinderer may not have all the fancy milling and bling but when it comes to build quality they are second to none. You won’t find a better built user. They have came a LONG ways in the last couple years. Not to mention their heat treat is about damn near perfected on their various steel choices.
@j.cut_3 жыл бұрын
@@optimuscrime608 I can’t speak to hinder knives as I’ve never tried/owned one…but Reate is by far the best manufacturing I’ve experienced thus far in my collecting of knives and I’ve never had an issue disassembling or reassembling a Reate made knife. Perfect centering, 0 play, and amazing action on all of em, every time.
