I remember playing this game day 1. It was buggy but super fun! Got fatigued and came back a year or so later. Massive updates for the graphics and lots of patches and new gear/difficulties, and game modes.

The traits of the tutorial characters are random. Only their fifth skill are the same. The levels of basic skills and fifth skill are random too. If you go back to the menu and select again, the traits will change. Their names change also.

Just wanted to highlight this correction - you can back out and reroll the tutorial characters for top-end traits just like random characters.

This guide is what made me buy the game a few days ago! after a mistake on my part I managed to get one of my chars killed so I rage quit for the night. The next day I decided to delete the save and start again. to my surprise I found that your first 2 chars can re-roll traits and even names. All you need to do is as soon as the intro movie ends as soon as you gain control of your chars, hit U on your keyboard to open the skills/traits. If you don't like what you see simply exit and re-start the tutorial. The char models is the only thing that stays the same in the most part! I managed to roll 100% plague resistance on my "Girl" guess who is destroying Plague Hearts with simply a heavy weapon? ;-)

The tutorial start is very strong, since you start with: 4 survivors, guns (+ammo), easy missions that reward 200+ influence, only 1 plague heart in the first town (even on Lethal) and can get 2 survivors for free (after completing the enclave tutorial missions), you get 4 +20 morale for 3 hours along with the easy tutorial plague heart that also gives + 20 morale for 45min (That's massive for Lethal zone) I'm trying to incorporate the tutorial bonuses into my playstyle since it gives you enough survivors and influence to go to another map and go straight into a bigger base without needing to clear out 3-4 plague hearts with your fresh community just to get into the base you want (all on day 1 or 2) 😁👍

I didn’t know that thing with the head, the first time I decided to use a gun in state of decay was against a screamer, and I was worried about setting it off, I was useinf the tutorial pistol and didn’t have any extra ammo, I used like 5 bullets trying to kill a screamer and had no idea why it wasn’t working, so glad that you said you need head shots becuase I would have never figured that out.

I like it. It’s on one shot kill though you don’t have to shoot them in the head like 20 million times for them to die that makes it so much easier and so much less ammo.

I dont understand the sprint thing Wont not sprinting and having low cardio hurt you in the long run Also it taches you to learn awareness of your surroundings and the size area your noise makes and ofc you arent as reliant on stamina items Then again i guess you could just sprint for cardio in safety of your base

Yeah there is a time to sprint this is more for building good habits but you will find plenty of time to sprint while doing hearts or running for you life lol no need to do it all the time

I’m doing a full lethal run and I’m getting absolutely no random wandering traders, I’ll get rare skill traders and the mysterious wandering traders on the weekends but no random. I have a pretty decent 6 person community going and I really don’t feel like starting a new community to see if it fixed the bug or not. Any suggestions?

Great vid as usual. I personally find the ammo outpost to be quite nice- particularly early on in U33 because outpost traps require ammo/fuel. With chemistry on a survivor you have 0 fuel cost. That basically lets you run traps on an outpost with only parts, which early game can give you defense/push against a heart. For example: take that fuel or food outpost next to the cloud, activate traps, and fast loot all the buildings in the circle. Profit! ;)

SoD 2 is such a a missed opportunity 😕 Good engine , gameplay & graphics but it has like 6 very detailed and interesting maps but no story at all just random and repeated missions . Heartland has some story but its a DLC . When you want to play single player the game gets boring after a while . So State of Decay year one survival edition is stil the king 😃
