In Germany, Indian embassy organizes an idea-generation competition every year called Indian Business Idol, where students propose potential business ideas for new avenues of trade/tech integrations between Germany and India. I believe, initiative like this not only provides valuable insights into trade opportunities but also encourages students to think about ways to contribute to their country. It’s an engaging, low-cost way to uncover fresh perspectives. It would be fantastic if BIDA could let our embassies know to establish something similar for Bangladeshis abroad. Such a platform could allow Bangladeshi students and professionals abroad to brainstorm and share ideas on improving trade relations between Bangladesh and their host countries. And also helps us to be more united!

I agree with you, but the challenge lies within our family. They don't really support entrepreneurship or anything that takes time and comes with potential struggles, especially considering our current situation. However, I believe your recommendation is excellent and will definitely be effective!

@aseerjawad46486 күн бұрын
Umm!!!! Apple stores will rebuild the country and make us solvent economically, right? How could you actually bring such cheap thoughts?
@mahbubarahamanlaboni20953 күн бұрын
Why not make out own version of Amazon and PayPal? I am currently in korea they have Coupang, they didn't think about bringing Amazon and we should too try to be self reliant. We have software engineers and businessmen, encourage them to build for us. They will if they see that there's a potential market. They won't if we keep asking for Amazon.

Thanks for RightStarting the investment climate of Bangladesh 2.0. The new team in BIDA has clearly marked the pieces of the puzzle to place in the right spots. Regulatory framework / public service revamption should be the next priority to improve corruption perception and public trust in governance. Quick kills should be scored in no time. Integration & connectivity between existing government systems (e.g. Bangladesh Bank, NBR, Ministry of Commerce, BIDA, BEZA etc) would immediately improve regulatory services efficiency, reduce corruption and money laundering. This would improve business ready index for the country promoting the start up ecosystem. As a result Bangladeshi diaspora would be interested in their fatherland as a prime investment opportunity. Looking forward to continued dialogue and information from BIDA. Wishing all the best.

Truly inspirational. Didn't know we had such talented people in Bangladesh. Let's lift this up and light this up. One thing I want to say though, while we look at the investment opportunities, let's not forget about the unemployed people. BIDA can liaise with people's development teams and ensure training for them, not just at employee level but also at management and decision making level. Also reach out to Bangladeshis across the world. We see a lot of our people living in the west go to places like Qatar, China and Singapore. If we can give them good enough reasons they will move back to Bangladesh. Tax free income could be something we can look into. Good luck to you both.

This is fantastic. We as a country have a very long way to go to even establish ourselves at the world stage with a positive image. If there is one new initiative from this government that I wish can continue for at least the next 10 years, for me it will be this. It is so rare to see talent and selflessness intersecting. I pray and hope for your success. The road will be full of turbulence but stay strong an keep moving forward.

It's a good initiative and needs to be normalized in all aspects of government actions. Please continue this as a regular activity. I believe that regulatory barriers are the biggest issue at hand. Other issues will sort themselves out when the legal structure is on point. I'm surprised to see it wasn't focused on in this presentation.

There are many issues concerning our economy & I wish to share my thoughts with you all. There are many commercial enterprises under the control of the public sector corporations like BTMC, BJMC, BSEC, BSFIC, which are not being managed in an efficient manner and incurring loses with mounting debt loads. Some of these enterprises have been leased out/ handed over under PPP to private sector companies in the hope of better management. I believe that these public sector commercial enterprises should be entirely divested & both local as well as foreign investors can be invited to take over these enterprises at an arm’s length transactions. I am sure those commercial enterprises which have value creation opportunities should attract investors from home & overseas. I would like to know whether BIDA will act as a catalyst in this divestiture process?

Govt should be run by right man in right place - not by political considerations! I hv witnessed many govt project failed because of incompetent civil servant assigned the job. So background of the civil servant must match with the responsibility given. e,g An agriculturist is given a job to head the Space Research Center. Also some mechanism be in place to listen to Bottom Up proposal. Ground people know better when it comes to real time problem and it’s probable solution. Information exchange should be two ways !

Whatever reform you do without fixing the RJSC, won’t change anything. When a foreign investor decides to invest in bangladesh they need to open a company and that critical work is done by utterly corrupt inefficient RJSC!!! What are you talking about? Make real foreign company opening easy and transparent. I have experienced this and still experiencing it. Create a congenital environment where public perception would be positive for organizations like RJSC under your newly appointed Advisor Mr Bashir.
