State of the Art Tanking System in our CH 47 Aircraft
Here is an overview of our CH 47 with the state of the art computerized 3000 USG RADS L tanking system. We are extremely pleased with the field reports back from our first customer CALFIRE who contracted the helicopter in California. This aircraft’s unique tanking system is identical to our C-130 tank allowing the helicopter to build retardant line as well as go direct attack on the fire.

love the chanook but no matter how big the tank itis only capable of lifting a certain amount of water depending on altitude

Outstanding job of converting these Chinooks to a multipurpose aerial fire fighting tanker. We're these originally modernized CH-47A/B aircraft into D models but were deemed uneconomical to upgrade to CH-47F models?

Pretty much. The D models were either cannibalized for parts or sold on the Civilian market. The F model uses a redesigned airframe that uses less total parts and is "fresh." A certain number of F models use refurbished engines, transmissions and such from D models, but many are totally new as well. I miss the Deltas. They were my favorite and much less complicated avionics wise. Kinda like a huey vs a blackhawk
