This is my attempt at summarizing all of the awesome data dives we do during the month and giving one final view on the overall State of the Pokemon Collecting & Investing Hobby.We will look at Scarlet & Violet, Sword & Shield, Sun & Moon, XY, Alt Arts, PSA 10 pops and everything else under the sun! I agree with you but if you really take the time, he’s making these up. How is it the top 20 swsh single prices are greater than top 20 swsh single psa 10 prices… and also notice it’s always whole $ number. Which tells me he is just guesstimating or estimating and not really taking accurate prices… and there’s so much more I can tell

"population matters but demand is the most important", I couldn't agree with you more, that's why submission count is important, that shows (to me) how much demand there is. If you have a pop 1but only 3 submissons, that's not much demand at all but you got a rare card. Whenever someone says low pop i always check submission count, if that's low too, i don't bother. P.S I love the videos please keep it up, very informative

Such a cool call out on the submission numbers, I'll have to dig into that some more. Only time it might get muddy is with an awesome card the like Magikarp from PE where the print quality is so low that the sub numbers are low likely due to most people pre screening out non 9/10 quality. I'll have to do some digging into this!! Thanks for the awesome idea!!

Been saying for months now that I don’t understand the hate for the scarlet and violet sets, but I guess I had a unique perspective considering I just got back into the hobby in December of 2023 and I missed sword and shield entirely. When I got back in, I saw everyone praising sword and shield and in the same breath claiming that scarlet and violet era sets were horrible. When I looked into it, I saw the same beauty in scarlet and violet that I did in sword and shield, so I invested in scarlet and violet before the value shot through the roof. Now everyone is saying scarlet and violet is great. This hobby is so weird sometimes

It's kinda like a weird trend in the Pokemon space... Era ends, people start to fomo and speak on how awesome it is/was simultaneously new era begins and people decry that it can never be as good as the previous. I will say SW&SH will have a special place in hobby history because it brought so many people back into the hobby and the Alt Arts were amazing but S&V is going to make its own mark and be special in its own way too!!

Now that's realllllly disappointing to hear. One of my fav things about Japanese cards was the ability to get epic art in super high quality and usually at a discount vs their English equivalent. Hopefully it's not a trend moving forward!!

As much as I appreciate the data… sometimes I question if you are just making these up… one, I refuse to believe there aren’t cents. It’s all totaled up to whole $ numbers… which tells me you aren’t really exactly getting accurate prices and probably just guesstimating. Second, how is it the top 20 SWSH total prices is higher than top 20 SWSH PSA 10 total prices…????? Raw cards are always under psa 10’prices… again so many slides, so many graphs just don’t make sense when you really look at it and I hope people just don’t accept it

Yes we round to whole numbers… and the top 20 singles cards is an aggregate of the top 20 cards for all SW&SH sets so 240 total cards. 12 regular sets, top 20 cards from each = 240 cards. The SW&SH PSA 10 is 20 total cards so the price of those 20 cards is less then the aggregate of the 240 raw cards from SW&SH. I never mind questions and I will always respond kindly but do your research before you accuse someone, who’s only trying to do the leg work for the hobby and doesn’t hide it behind a paywall, of “making stuff up”. Not cool brother. Still appreciate the comment and I hope that helps answer your question, if you have more feel free to fire away!!

@TheRealPokeMommy some people like it yes but to be honest I think it's not the Lugia. Lugia people wanted. It's dark.lugia is light. Out of the top tier cards of the 4 sets there Lugia is the worst.giitina gengar and machamp all are better.even moltres from chillen is better..if that was Lugia. How it's posed it would be the best card.but the have Lugia turning doing a impossible flying move

Your videos are great! I love the data dives! Where/How do you get a hold of your data? Do you scrap the public facing websites or do you have access to spreadsheets with the data included? Keep up the good work and the great content!

Thanks man, I really appreciate this!! So I actually manually input all of the prices into a excel sheet and I do that purposefully. I feel like I learn/retain more when I do it manually vs scraping and I can identify trends better when I "touch" the data vs just dumping it into a spreadsheet. It takes significantly more time but the learnings I get from it makes the effort well worth it!!

@@PikaPikaPapa Yea a lot more work! Lol. I love the data fives and have been doing something similar for myself, some of which is inspired by your videos. Its actually let me find a an opportunity within the Paldea Evolved set that had a 5 dollar IR that was had a PSA sell price of 150-200. Great upside and with the chance of buy some blind off of TCG Player. Got 5 sent 2 to Beckett and got a 9.5 and a 9. Should be able to pull a profit over all.
