Also ppl keep overlooking the fact that year before last, Harris was big12 defensive player of the year, he beat out McCullar.. last year Harris had to have a different role, but now he can go back to being that defensive player and more of a traditional lead point guard which fits him perfect.. he’s a defensive, facilitating, pass first PG, this team has all the pieces needed

Elmarko Jackson and Flory Bidunga aren't playing any minutes? Does Greg think Kansas is going to have a 6 man rotation?

Storr and Mayo will provide playmaking and play creating, we didn’t have that.. McCullar was that by default, that’s not his game at all.. that is the game of Storr and Mayo, aside from shooting, we need play making and that was added.. and I like Bidunga in the future, 2-3yrs down the road he’ll be a defensive force to be reckon with.. and Rakease Passmore will open a lot of eyes, the kid is a baller dnt sleep on him even though he’s a freshman, he will compete for minutes .. athletic, is a good shooter, with good size at 6’5.. and has the frame to add muscle without losing any quickness or speed

Too many cooks in the kitchen? There are still up to 2 roster spots available, though likely only one will be filled. Watch Coach Self find the next rabbit to pull out of his hat, ala Furphy, Svi, …. He’s already added 2 more, though I think he convinced Mr Kansas Basketball (hs) to be a preferred walkon. He’s planning on adding another player.

Kansas last year was running an offense that none of those players had run before. Not even the veteran players like Harris, Adams and McCullar. Kansas has not run a starting lineup with two bigs in years. The last time they did it was very early in the 2019-2020 season with McCormick and Doke, but they realized early in the season that they were better going four around one in their starting lineup. So, last year everyone had to adjust the way they were used to playing. Last year was a down year for Kansas and they still beat the likes of UConn, Houston, Tennessee, and Kentucky, and entered the tournament with a 4 seed. Hopefully the chemistry works out well with the team this year and Kansas gets back to the top of the loaded Big 12.

Last year was only down because they lost so many players; 4 total, including 2 starters and one of them was the best player. In the end just too much to overcome, while the first half of the season as you mentioned is credit to why they are such a great program.

@@johnlee7085 So the injuries late in the season to McCullar and Dickenson on an already shallow rotation had nothing to do with it? It is not like you could tell that from the NCAA tourney where their first round opponent kept substituting 5 at time and cut a 21 point second half lead to 1 or that they lead in the first minute of the second half of the blowout second round loss and they front-rimmed many shots in that second half. Not like any of that indicates a lack of depth or anything.

I’d give Greg’s Vibe a 9. Meanwhile, Brian gets a 10.

The sum of Griffen/Storr/Mayo is better than McCullsr/Furphy, just my opinion and I cld give many reasons why.. biggie is Storr is better then McCullar, Furphy isn’t as good RIGHT NOW as Griffen, and then Mayo adds instant offense and a 6’4 ball handling 2 guard.. Mayo will be instant offense off the bench

I wanted elmarko Jackson on the bench so bad last year. However, him coming off the bench for 6-14 minutes a game is a great thing to have. He is a great athlete who can really defend which this team needs.
@johnlee70855 ай бұрын
I think Elmarko is still relatively inexperienced; didn’t grow up playing elite basketball. It always amazes me when people think the players aren’t going to develop and get better. Zach is another player that could really surprise people coming out of a redshirt year. I really like the variety they have in the front court.

McCullar was good but he quit on the program so I lost all respect for him.
@Fredford99Ай бұрын
Uh... you do know he was injured starting around mid-conference season and was not able to play most of the rest of the season, right?
