Our state song sounds like a 1970s jazz song, and I like it!
@HelpICantThinkOfACleverName9 ай бұрын
Personally get more disco vibes from it. Disco did become popular in the '70s, and this song's from '77, so the timeline checks out. Although I do get hints of jazz when the saxophone(?) comes in.

I grew up in upstate New York and I had no idea this was our state song. With the minimal lyrics it sounds like it’s just about New York City. Why not have a song with lyrics that represent the whole state. There is so much more to New York than the city.

Of course this is New York's State Song. Listen to it. The two options were either bombastic or cynical, and I doubt a cynical one would fly.

This was our tourism TV ad theme song in the 70s. It spawned the famous “I ❤ New York” trend, which was also featured on the TV spot. It played so often on the TV as a kid 😂

Even though this song sounds directly out of the 1970s (because it is, 1977) it still fits New York (City) perfectly for some reason.
