At least five people have been detained at the University of Texas at Austin’s campus as people gathered at a protest in support of Gaza Wednesday.
NewsNation affiliate KXAN reached out to law enforcement and is working to get more information on the detainments. We will update this story when we receive a response.

We got home and the news was accusing tea party of being violent extremist. During the BLM riots I watched CNN reported how the protest were mostly peaceful while fires burned on live TV behind them. I don’t know how these protest went, but I did see video of protesters cheering for the death of Israeli soldiers. Also, the Palestinian protesters blocked the Golden Gate Bridge which should lead to many arrest. So it depends on who is reporting and who’s ox is being gorex.

The Constitution -- is the law of our land. Thomas Jefferson made the 1st Amendment the 1st for good reason. Why do people rush to defend the 2nd Amendment and forget the 1st Amendment exists?? The students have a God-given right to protest and not be harmed while doing so -- just as the police should be kept safe. We are all Americans. This idea of subjectivity in whether the Constitution applies -- is not for university administrations or anyone to interpret. Don't tread on our Constitutional rights.
