It took me a long while to understand that what we mean by the word "nation" in the subcontinent is not its original meaning in Europe (where it originated). Based on the original meaning converting from one religion to another does imply switching nations. The Two Nation Theory is based on the original meaning of the word. Per that meaning, Hindus are a nation and Muslims are a nation. And they are two separate nations. Which led to the conclusion that since they are separate nations, they should have an equal say in governance, independent of their relative population sizes. The only practical way to achieve it was to create separate countries. (Notice, a country and nation are different.) It so happens today we have come to treat a nation and a country as synonyms, albeit incorrectly.

Dr Ishtiaq has come out with an episode on his channel, voicing his disappointment about the treatment he received from Express News in this interview. All the stuff he said has been edited,and the whole thing looks like a promotion of Ali Usman Kazmi. No mention of Jinnah, Radcliffe award, acc to Prof Ishtiaq. Prof Sahib also said that Syed Muzammil has since called him and apologised, saying he had nothing to do with the editing. To be fair to Muzammil, he has always referenced Prof Ishtiaq with respect. This was probably Prof Sahib's first interaction with Pakistani mainstream media in all these years, and will probably be his last given the treatment he's received.
