As Meghalaya celebrates its 50th year of statehood, we remember the conviction of our forefathers who fought so that our voices maybe heard, our identities acknowledged and that we may exist freely, having control over our own future. Their fight was solemn, their victory indeed joyous.

In meghalaya Bengali Garo Khasi jaintia are Bangladeshi refugees and original people of meghalaya are Hajong tribe and Assamese people.
