I'm Uruguayan, and Uruguay is not impossible to beat, but it is very very very F****ng hard to beat, especially now. I don't think it would be outrageous to see the US top group C, but they'd need to bring their A+ game and have a bit of luck on top of that to do it. There is a shorter difference today between the US and Panama or Bolivia, than there is between the US and Uruguay.

Uruguay has the youngest team in conmebol at the moment. Top two team in this tournament for sure. Araujo captain of Barcelona, Valverde captain of Real Madrid, Suarez Captain of Gremio and best player of the year in Brazil, Ugarte best number 5 in France, Nuñez most goals in SA qualifying and one the best Strikers in the world, Arrascaeta best number 10 in Brazil, Gimenez still playing a pro level in Atletico de Madrid, Pellistri Manchester United, Bentacur one the best midfielders in the premier league playing for Tottenham. Also Uruguay won the Under 20 World Cup, none of those kids are playing in the main national team. I only see great future for Uruguay. ...and to top it off Marcelo Bielsa is getting the best of these players as a team. Good luck to any body paying Uruguay, is not going to be easy to beat them.

Has Lalas seen Uruguay play? They run like cheetahs. Their midfield could be argued to be one of the best in the world at the moment. They have the captains of Real Madrid and Barcelona on their squad. The best #5 in France with Ugarte. Darwin is the leading scorer in WC Qualifying. Because of their speed, their counter attack is deadly. Their high press is incredibly effective as their opponents don't even have time to breath let alone try and break out. They are defensively sound as Uruguayan teams have always been and have the ability to win the ball back quickly. They can play very physically as well if that is what the game warrants. All this in just 5 games under Bielsa. Their top players are 22-25 years of age and waiting on the wings are their entire Under 23 World Cup Champion team. This team is good already but has the potential to be scary good by this coming summer. This is a team preparing for the the next WC, not just the Copa America. Anything is possible as we all know but my money is on them. My apologies if I have repeated what has already been said.

To be honest about our status: there is no settling for less than a final four. We will either play Argentina or Brazil and I can accept a loss to either. And that loss we accept to go to the 3rd/4th place game needs to be a close game 1-0; 2-1; 2-0 at worst. Costa rica new coach, Gustavo Alfaro, is a very competent coach but it will have trouble to set a team with the international Ayers of costa rica,since he will not having them it until next fifa dates,and would not get to know throughtfully, he does not know them completely yet as the Panamá thrashing of costa rica 6-1 on the nation league games proved, instead I think Gustavo will emphasize on the local players upt until the copa América and in that time he will assemble the team in accordance to whom he seem fit for the team that he is already coaching in Costa Rica...

With all due respect, I think that US Soccer is losing valuable time with Berhalter, since its team needs to mature a clear, efficient soccer idea that brings out the best in its squad, and the best way to test it is with the double date of March and put it to the test in the 2024 Copa America so that it becomes stronger and reaches its peak performance in 2026, and Berhalter is evident that he is not the ideal one to achieve it, so we have to wait for the Copa América to end. 2024 will be a waste since it will not have any other litmus test until the 2026 world cup, since the 2025 gold cup is not a serious test tournament. A TOP coach is needed who can take the team to a higher level, since there is talent, but not yet a mature and consolidated team, and it would be a great shame if that talent is diluted in promises but without important achievements.

I wouldn't say Cavani has been underrated at all. He's one of the top scorers for Napoli and PSG and secon in goals in Uruguay only to Suarez. Uruguay just got the two best strikers of our history at the same time. I love Cavani, but Suarez is better. And they are both 36 yo. It's Nunez' time now. And he's looking very fit with Uruguay!

Suarez has an ego no doubt that is clear given his interviews and social media posts, but within the team he actually is a team player. Nuñez has mentioned relentlessly how much support he has received from Suarez. If there is an inclining? (Lalas is a questionable expert and I am using that term loosely)... what about Gregg is not an inclining? He has the greatest talent in the region and still was not dominant. The only time the US looked dominant was when BJ was the coach and since then, when Gregg returned and had 3 international windows... the US at best underwhelmed or just flat out disappointed.
