Milk and its health and nutritional benefits, demonstrated through a domestic science class on milk and milk-based products and their use in cooking. This is a film from our archival collection. The series is NRS 4911 Health and the films cover a wide range of topics, including the structure and functioning of key parts of the body (such as eyes/ears, heart, lungs and circulatory system), pregnancy and birth, baby and child care, adolescent development, infectious diseases and other conditions (e.g. tuberculosis, polio, colds and influenza), dental health, fitness and exercise, nutrition, and dangers inside and outside the home (electricity, snakes, spiders and road safety).

I found this one to be entertaining and a bit campy. For some reason, the bulk of the nutrition films from this period (at least in the US) seem to be sponsored by dairy associations. This Australian one seems to fit right in with that trend...I especially like all the pro-milk declarations at the end.

Erik: I dunno. It wasn't pretentious to me. It's an elocution thing. It might help to think about it as learning to Speak in the same way you learn to Sing - pronunciation, clarity, and with thought. Have you ever watched My Fair Lady?
