Yeah, nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to get buried there! There are nicer cities in Germany. The worst thing are the Berliner, who always think that they have the biggest and the best and that they are some sort of Metropolis, even though they don't even come close. I guess no German city truly does, but Frankfurt and Hamburg are both closer to being one than Berlin. And naturally the Ruhr Area as a whole is bigger and more populated than all of them.
@shrinkhh79
@shrinkhh79 4 жыл бұрын

A very common mistake is the "Moin Moin" thing. Moin Moin is, what the tourists say, the people from the region only say Moin once. It is used commonly by the locals also in Bremen, Hamburg, parts off Lower Saxony, in southern Denmark and parts of the Netherlands at any time of the day. It is argued between language experts what the word "Moin" actually mean and where it comes from. A common believe is that it is a local short form for "Guten Morgen" (good morning) since it sounds similar. As far as I understand the most popular among language experts theory is, that "Moin" translates to "A pleasure" like in "It's a pleasure to meet you." Another theory is, that it is a totally made up word.

We're the third state in the ranking with the lowest debts in Germany. We've got many beautiful lakes, beaches, cities. Many people think we are conservative and extrem right-winged but the opposite is the case. Most of the people are liberal and social democratic. Rostock, Stralsund und and other cities dedicated in the top 10 most beautiful cities of Germany. Mecklenburger are known as unstressed and ambitious people. I just add a few more facts and personal thoughts about bavaria: 1.The Oktoberfest is the world biggest Volksfest. 2. We don't wear Lederhosen oder Dirndl that much, just for the volksfest or Dorffest (which is probably half of the summer the case) and a few special occasions in school e.g. photoday. 3. Bavaria has numerous famous companies like Audi, BMW, Siemens or Adidas. 4. The bavarian A-levels are considerd to be the hardest in germany. Which is pretty unfair, if you want to go to university, because of the numerus clausus. Considering that bavarians have, because of the harder tests a worse grade in their A-levels as someone for example from bremen, many demand either the same A-levels in whole germany or a compensation. Although bavarians are often seen as uncultered and retarded by other Bundesländer. 5. The Bavarian Forest is the oldest nationalpark in germany. It's worth visiting. 6. Bavarians (excluding franconians)have more in common with austrians than with germans. You can go to austria and speak in your bavarian accent and they'll understand you unlike when you go to northern germany. 7. We have our own anthem and you learn it in school before the german one (I didn't even learn it), at least at my school. Well I can't think of more, maybe you can add something to the list.

About Saxony: The Saxons he was talking about in the video, that conquered england were the saxons from the region in Lower Saxony. The State of Saxony became known as Saxony, because the title "Duke of Saxony" was given to the count of Meissen as the land itself is called. :D

Well actually all the nice christmas ornaments and accessoires are mostly made in an area in Saxony called the "Erzgebirge" which means like "ore mountains". They even have their own dialects in every part and do not feel dependant to the Saxony Bundesland. Dresden (capitol of saxony) is also one of the most beautiful cities in Germany which was devastatet by the Americans in the end of WWII but rebuilt successfully. Dresden has always been a city which made the Germans proud, this is why the US army decided to destroy it in 1945. Hope these bonus facts delight you

James, Mallorca what he showed and meant consists only of one spot called El Arenal and the beach there with its hut, where you can buy buckets of Sangria with long straws. It is as crazy as your Mardi Gras or Spring Break Festivals...but it is 24/7/365 this way. Now of course it is dead, but you get the picture. Check out Ballermann 6 here on this platform. ^^ You'll see a lot of very drunk people... To me this is worth a facepalm. Other than the meant part Mallorca is actually quite beautiful and sure worth a vacation in summer.

I think the best way to explain this is , it’s kinda like Halloween where everybody dresses up. But on the streets everybody is partying. There are stages through the whole city with bands and parades going by where they throw sweets xD and oh yeah. Lots of alcohol

I also learned something about my country. There's also this very small island on the west side, when the coastline is aligned to a circle, the island should be near the center of that circle. It did in the past get lots of it's land-mass taken from the ocean, but like 10 years ago some company tried to put lots of sand onto it so it stays a mini-island.

Big cities nowadays always have a beautiful and an ugly side, you cant really say that Berlin/Paris is ugly when you havent been staying there for more than a 2 weeks trip because you cant see everything a major city offers you. That is why i dont get it when people come to Berlin as a tourist from a village in Baden Württemberg and then call it ugly and dirty and so on, you just made a bad experience, of course it is part of the city but that doesnt mean that all of it is ugly

Should you ever come to Saxony go to Leipzig or Dresden. These are the biggest cities and especially the most beautiful and multicultural ones. Many old beautifull buildings. Leipzig has one of the biggest city parts with buildibgs in the Gründerzeit (19th century) styled houses. Also hiking through Saxon Switzerland (the german part of the Elbe Sandstone Mountain) is really nice. Thuringia is a really chill place to be if you like nature. Even the bigger cities aren't this big. It's also called the green heart of Germany.

on the topic of hamburg and the reeperbahn there is a saying there which comes from that fact that the redlight district overlaps with the fish market where basicaly during the day a large portion of it is occupied by people selling fish and during the night its the red light district, translated the saying goes as follows: "during the day the fish get gutted here and during the night the men get gutted here (the german word for gutted 'ausnehmen' also means something similiar as 'to take advantage of in a monitary sense') either way it smells like fish the entire time"
