For real. My physics teacher posts tons of videos instead of lecturing over zoom (which I completely agree with) but she posts videos of people trying to be as whacky as possible to make science.. fun? But it is just soo damn distracting. This is always where I choose to learn.

Second hanging sign problem - I did have to watch it 5 times for it to really sink in, but now I think I finally understand the concept of Torque = Fr(perpendicular). I kept asking my professor how it relates to SOHCAHTOA in geometry because I knew there was a connection. But he kept telling me not to think of it that way. Your explanation is so clarifying. Thank you!

You're probably an engineer by now, but I'm sorta old school and don't trust the whole rFsinθ thing, so I definitely go the trig route. It's a little slower but I can see exactly what I'm doing.

I want to clarify to the problem of a Beam and 20kg block. Isn't Normal Force supposed to be added to the sum of the Forces in the Y Direction?

Excellent pace and very illustrative problems, thank you. However, in the first ladder problem, was wondering why you did not consider Fwy at the wall. Then, in the 2nd ladder problem which was the last problem, you mentioned to assume no friction at the wall. So I assumed the same applied to the first problem too. Would be interesting to solve with assumption of friction!

I know it's 2 years late but 9.8 is the value of gravity pull. You'll need it to calculate the force that the mass exerts so you multiply the mass with 9.8

At 16:35 sin 50 = 0.766 by adding sin 40 and 50 we get value of 1.409 and if we divide 784/1.409=556

In 34:30, While calculating the sum of the net forces in the Y direction, why didn't you add the force holding the block up. Isn't there supposed to be a force( Another tension force maybe, 🤷🏽‍♀️ that holds the block upwards?

Static equilibrium also needs momentum to be zero. If it's only constant diffrent from zero we say that it is just a equilibrium.

I thought that only the perpendicular component of the force mattered when calculating the torque on the object, so why would tension be factored in to the problem at time 35:58?

I'm guessing that's because Fw is acting along x-axis and so it's y-component is 0 😄

@@aiza2513 I later figured it out 😄 The ground has to exert an opposing force in the x direction for it to keep the ladder from sliding horizontally... The ground somehow acts like the force of friction... It opposes the motion of the block so it doesn't slide backwards...thereby resulting in falling 😂...I pity anyone that's on the ladder during this incident

for the problem with the ladder around 50 minutes, why does the wall only exert a horizontal force but not a vertical force, but the ground does both horizontal and vertical?
